Here something I’m working on at the moment – Academy 1/35 M551 Sheridan. In the pix I’ve put invisible thread in 3 places on each track to pull the tight rubber tracks down to create sag. I prefer to do it this way rather than put metal rods through the kit or use loads of CA which can be messy. The thread helps too cos you don’t have to pull it all the way down which is more realistic I feel.
I’ve painted it with Tamiya olive drab and post shaded with black, next up I’ll fade with some khaki and do some dry brushing.

    • The thread on the tracks is a great tip I have never heard about. Sounds much better than drilling holes and inserting rods – something I did actually read about. Do you recommend any one good book about tank building and painting?

      • I gleaned a lot of knowledge from the various forums on the net. However I asked your question to a friend who builds more armor than I and he said –
“Modeling Tanks and Military Vehicles by Shep Paine is good place to start. There are lots of stuff out there, but Shep covers the basics. Amazon has it right now.”
        Hope that helps.
