Not sure if this is the correct group but i figured I’d give it a shot 🙂

OK I really want to start airbrushing and want to get everything right the first time in terms of equipment and extras. I have a few hundred dollars to spend as I just got my bonus from work. What exactly do I need to fully start airbrushing and what should I get?

I was thinking a Iwata Eclipse HP-CS to start with and maybe a Iwata Smart Jet. They have a bundle with both of them and a lot of other stuff which seems it would be good for a beginner like myself.

But I will need a good spray booth as well I was looking at the Paasche or the Black Hole. Anyone used any of these?

I also need a good table as well as me and my girlfriend will be rearranging the apartment so we both have somewhere to work when we need to work at home. Anyone have a good ideas? Or am I on the right track? I want to get the setup correctly first so I don’t have to spend more money later except on the stuff that runs out like paint, filters, thinner etc. Any help you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

    • The Iwata starter set is great – that what I got from my local art store when it was on sale and I’ve been very very happy with it.

A spray booth is a great idea. I got a Artograph Model 1530 which is working well for me, especially as I pipe the fumes outside.

You’re certainly on the right track.

      • Yeah I wanted to go for the Smart Jet, but due to my budgetary restrictions (the missus), I got the Revolution, and Sprint Jet, also bought in stages, the cleaning jar (because I can use that to rest the airbrush), cleaning brushes, and both the types of thinner used for acrylic and enamel paint, to help clean whatever I used in the airbrush.

I built my own paintbooth out of corrugated plastic sheet, and zip ties, with a 9″ box fan for an exhaust, although I would like to buy a proper booth.
