Alright. since I was informed by my friend Crapmunky, (then re-reading the rules) that we can only enter one kit as our final entry, I decided to change gears and direction entirely. So now I will be attempting to do a ‘kitbash’ with some custom mods to create something I once saw a long while back, someone had turned the nobell gundam into a ‘lady rx-78’ as i like to call it. this is going to be my first kitbash, as well as my first time modding. the rest should be a breeze 😉

anyway, the first thing I did was I went ahead and cut out the parts to the torso, and began modifying the way the upper waist attaches to the upper torso. there’s a peg that locks everything in place, as well as another elongated one, I can easily slide the piece in using the small peg, and with a little plastic cement keep it in place. my only concern is scratching paint, but I think if I’m careful, it shouldn’t be an issue. another thing to note is i’ll have to scratch build and/or sculpt parts for the chest vents and the cockpit, so there’s some planning to do with that.

next up, i removed the seam that went along the middle of the chest. and the last bit of progress i made was on the first part i’m taking from the rx-78-2; the backpack. it’s much too big to fit on the back of the nobell as is, so I had to scribe a deep line in it, then cut it in half, next i’ll have to sand the pieces down so it’s a better fit on the horizon line, then cut and modify it so it’s not too tall…

so far i’ve bitten off much more than i can chew. but I think if i’m patient i’ll be able to pull this off 😉

    • Cool idea!
Didn’t see this until just now…
I’ve only been checking the Intermediate page & I forgot you had entered in Advanced.
Anyway, it looks like you’re making some good progress so far.
I’m sure you’ll be able to pull it off!
Best of luck, my bearded bro!
      🙂
