Hi everyone, this is my first real post, I guess 🙂 I’ve been building the HMM Shield Liger Bang Ver. I watched Zoids back when it was on TV when I was younger but haven’t really kept up on it since. But recently I’ve started looking at them in shops and realised how awesome they look, so I decided to give one a go.

I’m not very good at modelling (I’m a panel lines and top coat sort of guy) but I’ve taken to this kit with a few Gundam markers (especially silver) after noticing the silver highlights to things like the bolts in the manual. I’ve since gone totally nuts and done heaps of silver highlights, even to the areas you can’t see anymore… oh well, at least I know I’ve done it nicely, I guess 😛

I’ve been working on this kit for a couple of weeks now, got bogged down finishing exams and stuff. Now It’s summer holidays here so I can finish him off. Having lots of fun building him but I didn’t realise how long I’d spend on the little details!!! Certainly getting value for my money…

    • Looking good!

    • Wow , that’s look really nice ^^ awesome job, take more photos when its done or WIP ^^

    • wow nice looks awsome so far, difficult to build?

      • No difficulties so far, lots of parts though so it’s comparable to a Master Grade I guess. I guess the thing that has tripped me up is that it has a very ‘raw’ industrial/mechanical look so you have layers of parts, it can be a bit difficult to picture what will be visible (so which part to detail) and what will be hidden. The manual only has shots from a few angles so you have to kind of guess. Unlike say a Gundam which has its inner frame and outer armour so you learn quickly that, say, the knees and elbows are the only inner parts that will be visible. It’s my first Zoids kit so it’s a learning experience 😛

Definitely recommend anyone interested in the design to try one out though, it’s very refreshing to build. After this I think I’m gonna build a HG or something just to take a break from tons of parts though haha.

        • my advice, is to detail it all, even if your pretty sure it wont be seen once built, the hmm kits have a great habit of building the layers up so the details is very organic looking but in any one static pose alot is hidden, however once you move this and that into a new pose a large swarm of detail layers deep pops out, the iron kong is great for that, you build the body in layers around the core essentially and there is detail deep in the layers that you only see in that one pose from that once angle but when you see it, its great!

          • Ah I see, at the moment he’s more of a robot worm than a tiger so I can’t really appreciate the posability and viewing angles yet, haha. Cheers!

    • you havent missed much in the zoids anime world haha everything passed NC and CC arent worth the time it takes to read the terrible subtitles. liger is looking good though, still need to get me a liger!
