So far i have only used the SAL method, purely as its cheaper and tend to buy one kit at a time so far. Though i think if i was to do more than one i would go for recorded for peace of mind and possibly saving on handerling fees from the post office.

Lately I’ve been using EMS since HLJ now has Private Warehouse.
EMS is only 3 days to Aus, not 3 business days.
Once HLJ ship on Friday, I got it on Tue the following week and it is trackable too.
SAL takes about 10 -14 days to Aus.
I’m not sure how long it takes to ship to US for EMS, but I reckon it is about 5 days.
I suggest use EMS if you are buying expensive item or the total amount exceeds 6000 yen for your order.

I use EMS cos SAL can take more than a month to reach me and I tend to worry that my package is lost. Sometimes with a few items to ship, it sometime is cheaper than SAL. And anyway I always send too much stuff to qualify for SAL.

Though it is slower and as Phillip said, sometimes it takes longer than usual (if everything goes as planned it’s here in like 14 days) and I always worry if my stuff got lost or is it just late. However, I’ve been ordering from HLJ for almost two years now, once or twice per month and no item was lost, ever. So SAL works for me, like a charm!

better EMS cos ur items is insured plus u can track than rather than SAL..but if u order more than one kit than SAL would be more expensive than EMS. Go for EMS
