Anyway… over a month has passed and I think I’ll be able to squeeze in well before the end date.

I have created a base using a cheapo photo frame, styrofoam and modelling plaster. I intend to depict the Stug in an entrenched position. The crew of the Stug are nearby playing cards during a brief lull in the fighting in the Battle of Kursk.

The figure kit is acceptable but requires some filling . The Stug kit is also well detailed and I have enhanced it even further with added interior details. The radio, pistols and gun breach are from the kit itself but the ammo racks and wiring are scratchbuilt from styrene scrap and copper wire. Other stuff like shells, ammo pouches, etc are from the spares box. Its definitely not 100% accurate but I do what I can with what I have.

The tank was given a coat of red oxide primer (like how they were back in WWII) and I went to work painting the interior, going easy on the chipping but still making it quite stained and dirty. Its not like tankmen were asked to wipe their feet before going in right?

Lastly, I will be discarding the abhorrent rubber band tracks for aftermarket plastic ones. It seems Dragon’s tracks while nicely detailed are very prone to snapping. At least Tamiya tracks are on the tougher side but these are just plain bleargh..
