1/144 Su-47E Berkut by Kotobukiya (Available From HobbyLink Japan – HLJ.com)
The Su-47E is all put together. Let’s take a look and see how it’s turned out!
The joys of model building. You can see the tools, but watch out for spiders here when you grab them.
A fairly impressive amount of details as you can see here from all angles.
More sharp details and colors than expected on the upper body, and the one pre-colored star really adds some oomph.
Nice deep lining options on the tail.
The movement range of the arms. They can actually move back a little as well.
The movement range of the legs. As advertised on the box, the blade on the heel can also move.
An interesting way of connecting the hands on the wrists.
Even the hands feel different in construction from your run of the mill Gunpla, as they should.
The blades look very menacing as well.
Height comparison with one of the included Tank-class Betas in the same scale.
For size, it’s easy to mistake for a High Grade.
Overall, the initial comparison to a Bandai HG holds true in terms of size and color details. However, there are also some neat gimmicks that feel totally different from those Bandai spreads throughout their kits. It looks good when it’s all put together, and somehow avoids some of the most common problems with Kotobukiya kits. On the other hand, there is room for improvement. The first would be it’s range of moment. Partly due to the original design in the anime, its arms and legs don’t move all that well because they are blocked by other parts of the body. Another problem for some would be its lack of color. It may look dull if you just put it together without painting. But in the meantime, you can make it look a lot better just with the simple use of Gundam markers or alternatives on some of the parts. Overall, it’s a very interesting build, and cool looking kit! Thanks for reading everyone.
“I’m wearing my invisibility cloak. The Russians don’t have those yet do they?”

Where’s he transform? Is he a good guy? I love Berkut normally. He is the best.
Daniel
Of course he’s a good guy, he is a Russian after all! And he does transform, into an airplane of the same name, you know, with the inverted wings. In a new Muv-Luv movie by Michal Bay this guy is played by none other than Rade Serbedzija. A suit of armor will of course make him totally unrecognizable but nevertheless you’ll recognize his voice even through all that material.
imdb ratings of this one show a solid 2.3 out of 10 which is more or less a standard for Michael Bay movies such as Transformers – Splosions and Transformes 2 – Boom, boom, bang. Please be noted that Shia LaBeouf will be playing in no movie whatsoever.
