OK this is how much of a noob I am.
When Bandai give their colour callouts in the instructions WHAT COLOURS/MANUFACTURERS are they referring to?
    Please help.

    • These days their color guides are pretty much brand-neutral. It’s usually mixing ratios combining a few basic colors.

    • Even though what tetsujin says is 90% true I think I’ve read somewhere that it’s referred to Mr.Hobby paints. If you want to go by the book anyway. I like mine anime-accurate so I mostly use wiki for photos/pictures, mixing paints as best as I can to get that or as close to that shade I can. If I miss a shade or two in between, it’s not a huge disaster. 🙂

      • Thanks for you thought’s on this. Somehow I can’t help but think that Bandai are missing out here by not having a dedicated range of paints. Yes I know they have their pens but I think they would fly off the shelf’s.
        What do you think?

        • And even their pens come from the same company that makes Mr.Hobby stuff, GSI Creos. So there has to be some sort of an agreement between them. Not so much as a partnership as much as a “deal” thing Tim mentioned. To be honest, I’m more than happy to splash ANY kind of paint onto that plastic. With a little effort any model, be that a resin or plamo kit looks much better painted, in my opinion anyway. 🙂

          • Thank Tim & Dan your right on the money there with what your saying. I looked a little deeper into this and I seams to be Mr Hobby all the way. It’s a shame as its hard to get in the UK unless you buy it off eBay and then it’s the waiting time.
            So many thanks guys.

            • I’ve got the same problem here. Therefore I use whatever I have at the moment. Some of the more exclusive paints I get online while the others I mix myself using what enamels I can find. A lot of people use Mr.Hobby paints but I’ve never used them. Tim here loves them. Aqueous more than the rest. Right now I’m thinking of experimenting with Alclad for some custom chome look. The problem is the same with those too. Got to order them through ebay or some other online store and wait, wait, wait.
