My favorite tools: Satellite sanding tool, Tamiya 600 grit sand paper cut into strips, Wave sanding sticks, sanding sponges, Tamiya files, Tamiya angled tweezers, Tamiya sharp point nippers and the Ultimate Nipper 5.0 (awesome nippers!), hobby knives by Tamiya and an OLFA art knife. I have a tool addiction… but I’m ok with it!

    • Hey. How often would you recommend replacing sprue cutters?

      • The rule of thumb says that when the nippers aren’t cutting but rather crushing or pinching plastic, it’s time to replace. But if ever you’re not satisfied with their performance, replace ’em. But if you’re cleaning nubs with hobby knives, you don’t necessarily need the cleanest cut from your nippers, just cut far enough away from your parts so they don’t get damaged.

    • Is it diffuccult to clean the nubs using hobby knife?

Currently, I am only using my sprue cutter

      • I wouldn’t say it’s hard, but it does take some practice. You’ve got to get a feel for. Take multiple light passes with the knife, don’t try to cut it all in one pass… also cut from from both directions.
