Wow, so it’s been quite a long time since the last update I posted for my MG Sandrock.
Basically, real life just got in the way for a while…
But anyway, here’s a little bit of what I’ve done since then.
As you can see, I’ve fully assembled the kit, but as I’d mentioned before I had some other ideas I wanted to try. And one of them was to make the kit look like it had been covered in sand from being in the desert.
So, I picked up these weathering pigments from a local hobby shop.
It came with a few different colors like dirt, rust & sand, but I only needed the two lightest colors.
I mixed them together and added a little water to create a wash. Then I applied that all over the kit with a brush & let it dry.
In the picture with the Sandrock’s feet, you can see the difference between the unaltered paint and the weathered effect.
I have to say I really like the way it turned out & I think it actually helped even out and blend the color scheme even further.
Then I just applied an Alclad II flat top-coat over the entire kit (not pictured here) and voila; the main body is finished!
But this project is not over yet!
I still have some ideas that I’m working on right now, and if I can pull them off, I’ll be sure to post an update about them too.
Hope you’ll look forward to it!
