Hi,
Building the kit was quite easy. Bandai’s engineering is state of the art, a lot of fun making it all. I glued the parts together, and the main challenge was not to build too much together, as it would be difficult to paint the model otherwise.

I bought a bunch of Flyhawk models JMSDF railing sets, and even now I fear that I didn’t get enough, as there is a lot of railing details to add. I also got a couple of Eduard detail sets such as ladders and doors which I plan to use.

I found some reference pictures on the web, but not enough, so I may be wrong here and there about what I detail, but I guess most of the decks have railing so it shouldn’t be too far out.

A lot of work was already done on the drilling mast, but I plan to add scratchbuilt details inside such as pipes which can be seen on photos and cables.

For now I added all the railing to the work platforms and ladders.

I finished with the pipe cranes, and to save time later on, just sprayed them dark yellow from a spray can. The same goes for the blue parts, very wasy to take care of using a color spray :).
