What are you building? 8 years, 10 months ago Well the water slides came in for my epyon so its time to finish it up. Anyone got any advice on putting these on? the kit is hand brushed with acrylics so im not sure if there is anything i need to do to the surface before i put these decals on. also wondering if i should remove the 2 stickers that i put on the yellow parts of the chest earlier and replace them with water slides?

Based on the pictures. You need to coat the kit with a gloss clear coat.
Waterslides for best effect require to be put on gloss paint since its preventing the small air bubbles to get behind them. Those small air bubbles create a silvery around the decal. You might consider also getting decal fix. – its helps with waterslides. You put it on the model in a place where you want the waterslide to go and it helps the decal to properly set into that position – works really nice for non flat surfaces (like arches and so on).
So i got a can of acrylic gloss for a top coat on this guy before i put on the water slides, thnx for the tip on that. i also decided to finish up the last of the detail work while the kit is apart, possibly add some chrome details and last minute panel lines. Lots of touch up painting to do because of the slap dash job i did toward the end of the build. i wasn’t really looking for a “brand new MS” look to the kit so is it better to “scuff” up the gloss layer with 1000 grit or just spray a matte finish on top?
Give it a matte finish. It will also protect the decals.
