I found this bad boy on Ebay for pretty cheap, I think it was less than 25$ + 10 for shipping. It’s still a WIP and after it’s done I need to do a lot of wiping and polishing. 🙂 All that could be painted is done so the “splits” issue’s gone due to the crotch leg attachment friction “upgrade”.

    • how did you got that finish in painting?

Can you teach me on how to paint that kind of glossy gold plated type of painting 🙂

      • Sure thing. Getting this kind of finish demands your dedication and a lot of hard work. You need your side cutters and that’s about it. 😀 This kit comes molded and prepainted in this golden colour. Quite a few kits come like this. Some of them are: http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN900584/Gun

This kind of finish is a pain to cut off due to potential scratches and some of the worst nubs you’ll ever see. The one I did before this one was the first one on the list, the Hyaku-Shiki MG that was flawless! Not a single nub on that one and it came out way, way back when the 2.0 models were just a dream. Al of the parts that should had nubs that would be visible were undergated. No clue why they didn’t contiue in such a manner with the rest of the plated kits.

        • thanks a lot for the advice and infos, but Akatsuki is same that does not shows any nub marks whcih is the same as hyaku shiki?

          • I’ve heard bad things about nubs on Akatsuki. Being a No Grade 1/100 (no clue why they haven’t done an MG yet) obviously they didn’t bother to undergate the kit making it “nubless” A shame because it’s a pretty nice looking guy that I’d buy if it was just a little better.

            • Thanks for the infos :), but I will definitely collect this kind of finishes starting to the list you have post.

I already have the Akatsuki to be delivered by HLJ

              • Is that a 1/100 or a 1/144?
And do let me know how that turns out, if I’m wrong about the undergating. Because if I am I’ll be buying that guy like tomorrow. I’d suggest that you try and locate the guy I’m working on at the moment. The 1/100 Mobile Sumo from Turn A Gundam. Ebay should still have though I doubt you’ll be able to find one with a good price simply because of the fact that they’re discontinued. And, same as with the Turn A, it’s an odd looking suit.

                • That’s the 1:100 Sumo. The 1:144 version isn’t plated.
I’ve found that a day or two soak in automotive de-greaser works wonders for getting that chrome plating off. 🙂

                  • It would be cool to have a silver one too. So your advice is noted and safely tucked away in my box of ideas and stuff I’ve learned so far. It’ll come useful one day for sure. Thanks tets!

                    • I haven’t really decided what color I’m gonna go with for mine. Gold, silver, maybe white (The Sumo version was one of the early candidates for lead in Turn A, after all…)

                      • Didn’t know that. Now that I think about it, it would look nice in Gundam colours. 🙂 Just finished mine. After five minutes standing there he went for a flight off of his shelf… Blasted feet joints couldn’t take the heat. 😐

                • It is a 1/100, I will let you know once I got my hands on the kit. I also found 1/100 sumo for $40 including shipping. It is ok and fair enough for a Discontinued item I think !? 🙂
