Well entry submitted and I can finally relax. Figured my last post about this kit should be a rundown of all the work done 🙂
Full inner frame repaint with alclad II Stainless Steel, Magnesium, Light Aluminium, Gold Titanium, Chrome, Polished Brass, Pale Gold and Gunmetal.
New panel lines scribed on the hands, thighs, shins, calf thruster covers, waist, chest sides, arms, shield, crotch plate, butt armor and propulsion tanks.
Armour split on thigh and calf.
Replaced backpack and leg verniers with Bandai Builders Parts HD verniers.
Lost a shoulder piece so had to make a mold and recast one out of milliput.
Leg thruster vents sanded smooth and replaced with metal grills.
Various armor pieces drilled to accept metal balls, vents and screws.
Fine metal grill mounted inside shoulder vents.
Various parts candy coated with alclad II stainless steel/ alclad II chrome then alclad II candy red to give 2 shades of blood red.
Rest of armor parts painted with Gaia color white, grey I, grey II and grey III.
    So… much… masking…
Warning chevrons on butt armor and leg joints in gaia yellow and alclad black gloss.
Original Stein decals, left over Nu and Unicorn decals and custom decals used throughout kit.
Candy coated and metallic parts topcoated with Tamiya X-22 everything else topcoated with Vallejo matte varnish.
Bandai Builders Parts HD beam sabers painted with tamiya clear red and orange in gradient.
2x kotobukiya MSG grave arms sets painted and decaled to match
Designed and laser cut display case with engraved mirror back.
Learned that scribing takes patience and more planning than I allowed it, and you can NEVER have too much masking tape…. and patience.
    3 months work… loved every minute 🙂
Even if I don’t win, I have an awesome display piece on the gundam shelf.
The downside is now my girlfriend wants ALL my kits in display boxes…
    Good luck everyone 🙂
