Last work in progress pics before the end! Da da Daaaaa

A wing and a prayer! Have the gun and ammo panels finished. The ammo belt is for a 20mm german gun. I had to cut them to size as the Japanese 20mm rounds were shorter than the German ones. I didn’t put the ammo belt in its compartment. Partly because it still wouldn’t quite fit and cutting it more would make it look stupid. Mostly though I wanted the shiny brass links hanging off the wing to balance the look of the lone drop tank I have under the other wing. Artistic.

Trying to research Japanese ammo colors was a chore. As near as I can tell the black ones are explosive rounds and the red are armor piercing. I had tried painting a belt with tracer rounds too. They would be white. But that belt sort of looked like Christmas lights! Right season, but not what I’m after. 🙂
