Working on the ventral machine gun tray on the He 219. The solid gun sleeves are cut out and replaced with hollow brass items.

Since this is a cutaway build, it occurred to me that I should make one of the gun sleeves a cutaway to show the machine gun inside. This means getting two aluminum tubes (approx. 1.8mm and 2mm dia.) and cutting them lengthwise to create the cutaway gun sleeve composed of three pieces (aluminum being easier to cut that trying to cut the brass item). Cutting thin diameter aluminum tubes lengthwise was… tense… lol

The parts are dry-fit to show the overall layout and aren’t glued yet, thus the alignment not being finalized.

Brass barrels are used for machine guns and Schräge Musik cannons (before/ after inset).

The tray that holds the gun sleeves and guns is dry fit to show the cutaway section of the ventral area of the fuselage with internal ribs and bracing.
