Finally, here it is – 1/144 HGUC Sinanju.

This is my first fully painted kit, and what a fun challenge it was! I’ve decided to paint the kit with spraycans – Tamiya for main colors and Bosny for silver and gold exhausts – and they worked perfectly.

I’ve never been impressed by Bandai’s stickers (i’ve applied only the eye and the sensor ones), so the gold trim and Neo Zeon emblems were handpainted (yes, i’ve watched the tutorial on how to decant spraycans), which has taken a very long time with the search for optimal paint/thinner ratio and constant repainting and retouching. Also, big thanks to Bandai for raised areas of the trim and emblems – it really helped. But, boy, it feels (and looks!) GREAT after you’ve finally finished it! The little detals like the insides of exhausts, vulcans, gray on fuel tanks and various gold dots were handpainted too, but compared to trim it was nothing. =)

The fuel tanks and beam rifle were glued and sanded to remove ugly seam lines – it was pretty easy to do, and greatly improved the look of the parts.

Sadly, i oversprayed some parts with the topcoat (Bosny’s nozzles are huge), so from certain angles the surfaces looks wavy and not so smooth (like in the photo with shield). And it scratches really easily – so easily in fact, that i’m actually afraid to pose him. Maybe the topcoat will harden, we’ll see. )

Bandai’s waterslide decals are joy to work with (unlike the rub-ons in MG kits, ugh), and i think you always should buy them if you can.

As for the MS itself – oh my god, how awesome it looks. One of the best MS designs in the long Gundam history, if not the best. It looks totally stunning from every angle, go and buy one NOW. )

So, huge thanks to HLJ, Syd and Ryan for this competition and for pushing me forward in this hobby. Next stop – airbrush. )
