I was toying with the idea of making a sniper rifle. But I need a spare right hand, so I decided to make a mold of it using the existing part and cast it in acrylic.
I had to drill a 0.8mm hole on the end of the ball joint, insert a pin so that it acts as a gating spruce, using blue tack to hold it in place I pour in the silicone mold compound.
Where do I get some of that Acrylic mold material from? Does it turn into a rubber? I’ve only used a rubber compound in the past to create barrells etc. Do you fill the mold with resin afterwards.
Thanks for sharing with us all
Hi, sorry I was not too clear in my post. The mold is made from a silicon compound ( its feel is flexible like rubber) I got it at a local art store. It’s brand is Easycast. When the mold drys/set, I would remove the original part with a scapel. Next I would pour in liquid resin compound (acrylic).
Hope this is clearer.
