Toy Tengoku – Episode 88 – Asuka Langley Shikinami

On this episode, we take a closer look at Flare’s Asuka Langley Shikinami figure from “Rebuild of Evangelion”! This isn’t your typical Asuka either, as she’s based on a design by famous illustrator Yamashita Shunya, who’s other work includes Kotobukiya’s “Bishoujo” figure line, as well as Max Factory’s PLAMAX series girls, and more. Check out all of her details with us, and watch until the end to see how you can enter to win her for your collection!

Level 75 Marketing Mage. Editor, admin, and occasional code monkey. Stand User in her free time. Though she does build kits when time allows, time doesn't allow often. Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  2. Win… haha! That figure makes Asuka look really mature, certainly different from most of the other figures of her that I’ve seen! I like the Rebuild reboot series of movies, lots of interesting deviations from the original story. Still waiting to see how it all ends, it’s got to be better than how the original ended right? 😛

  8. I don’t really like statues. It takes lot of spaces and not poseable. I like the boots though.
Asuka’s face little bit odd similar like a porcelain doll.
BTW I prefer Rei Ayanami and Misato Katsuragi.

  10. My favorite Eva character is Eva Unit 01. She sports my favorite colors and has that awesome berserk mode. Had chills when in Rebuild 2 when she goes all glowing and OP at the end. Wonder if there will ever be a bishoujo EVA 01.

  36. Fanatic use of the anime clip in the episode to highlight her personality! I really liked that bit! Also, her hair is great. It’s awesome when they pay attention to detail like how it parts in the plastic to make it seem more realistic.

  37. This Asuka give me a new way to look at her character with mature theme. Never think I would get capture by that style of face before until this figure, surely would want this to my collection of Eva units.

  38. Why Asuka is not red-haired… D:

  39. Every time I see this figure’s face it keeps growing on me. The body sculpt and pose is perfect but compared to the original art, her face seemed too chubby/childish. Now seeing it up close, I see that it’s definitely not as bad as I thought and actually looks more realistic than the face in the artwork. At this rate I might end up getting two 😛

I am an artist, a huuuuge fan of Yamashita’s art, collector of bishoujo and giant robots especially Evangelion. (Which reflects in my artworks) I missed the metal build Evangelion order but I would really really love to get this figure!

  46. I am a big fan of the series since 1998 and this figure would be an excellent addition to my collection. Azuka is one of my favorite characters of evangelion and this figure pays her tribute in a spectacular way I love the way she is portrayed for this figure, I love the finishing, the colors but above all I like the work of the artist to represent her in a different way but at the same time so familiar. I have figures that I don’t have display room for so I keep them in their boxes, but it’d a shame not being able to really see the figure without opening the box. 111. Looks totally different from what I’m used too, but can already imagine her saying “Baka Shinji!”. Neon Genesis is what has gotten me into anime and manga. The figure does seems to resemble the Eva’s a lot more with the spear and the boots. Misato must be my all time favorite, still hunting for the 1:20th scale Renault Alpine A310 Fujimi kit with her on the hood .

  112. I think in Evangelion my favorite characters are Asuka and Pen Pen, also my favorite weapon is the Longinus Spear so its easier to see a figure of Asuka with the spear than a sexy pose of Pen Pen with the spear, this is a very beautiful figure in all aspects.

  144. I think these kind of designs are very interesting, why? Well, remember the “curse of eva”? How the pilots don’t age because of unknown reasons, I feel like this gives us a little glimpse of what could the look have been if Asuka and Rei actually grow up. I my self am a fan of figures with nice detail, great sculpting with accurate anatomy and marvelous painting, like Asuka from Alter, the one from Max Factory or the one from Kotobukiya, in fact I have the one from Amakuni, I’m sure you have seen it, it’s a beautiful 1/6 scale figure. One thing I appreciate about this models is that you can actually see and feel the contrast between clothes, hair and skin, not just because of the color, but because of the texture and that’s what makes it feel life-like. Next one is Mari, looks marvelous with her giant rifle, hope you can review it too.
    Greetings!
Btw, I’d be glad to have her next to my other figures. :3
