The Latest Sci-Fi & Gundam Model News from the All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2015

Join Syd and Ryan on the floor of the All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2015 right on opening day! We’re taking a look at the latest Sci-Fi and Gundam releases from your favorite manufacturers. Don’t miss the great new upcoming kits and other sci-fi goodness from Bandai, Kotobukiya, Wave, and Hasegawa!

Bandai:

Bandai continues its stellar lineup of Gundam kits, revealing their outstanding new Real Grade XXXG-01W Wing Gundam, Endless Waltz version! Fully transformable between flight mode and robot mode, this heavily-armed Gundam arrives soon!

Also on tap is the MG V2 Gundam Ver. Ka, which can also spend time on your shelf in either its bipedal or winged form! The HGUC Qubeley also made its debut, as did a new MG RX-78-02 Gundam, loaded with weapons and effects parts!

And heightening our anticipation for the December release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” Captain Phasma joins the S.H. Figuarts lineup, complete with cloak and blaster rifle!

Kotobukiya:

Kotobukiya makes “Zoids” fans worldwide extremely happy with their new Highend Master Model of the EZ-036 Death Stinger! This beast will be an imposing 45cm long when in its Sea Scorpion mode.

An impressive non-scale Mazin Kaizer also made its debut, as did a highly detailed 1/100 Sahelanthropus bipedal tank from “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain!” And the iconic Stormtrooper from “Star Wars” joins the Artfx+ lineup, available in a set of two!

The massively powerful CO3 Malicious R.I.P.3/M Blue Magnolia takes the Armored Core spotlight, and Aoonihime Shiki from “Phantasy Star Online 2” was a serene (and heavily-armed) presence in deep blue armor! Frame Arms Girl Stiletto is also armed to the teeth and ready for a fight!

From “Z-Knights,” the mighty Marine Kaizer in its Type V form gets a re-release, and the adorable Usagia joins the “Hoi-Hoi-San” family!

Hasegawa:

Hasegawa has what Macross fans want! A limited-edition 1/4000 kit of the SDF-1 Macross Cruiser Fortress with Prometheus and Daedalus, based on the movie version of the SDF-1 but incorporating the essence of the TV version too, will be on the way in October!

In the works for November release is the 1/72 VF-25F/S Super Messiah Macross F. This non-transformable version of Hasegawa’s intricately detailed VF-25F/S comes with its Super Packs for added performance, firepower and speed! Decals will be included to identify it as the unit flown by either Alto Saotome or Ozma Lee.

Wave:

Wave makes a big sci-fi splash with its set of four 1/35-scale Scopedog Turbo Customs from “Votoms: The Last Red Shoulder!” Also featured are the late mass-production version of the spider-like H.A.F.S. Gladiator from “Maschinen Krieger,” and a limited re-release of its Space Pod Crab 03 set of two! The ornate AAA Wunder from “Evangelion:3.0” soars into view in December.

Max Factory:

Max Factory had some great surprises in store for us, with tons of new additions to their PLAMAX line, including KanColle: Kuchikukan x Kanmusu Shimakaze, and a 35MAX Military Modern Russia Tanker Set!

There was also an amazing selection of new figures from “KanColle,” including Atago and Kouwan Seiki in 1/8 scale, and much more! A Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty figma of the Gurlukovich Mercenary is also coming soon!

Level 75 Marketing Mage. Editor, admin, and occasional code monkey. Stand User in her free time. Though she does build kits when time allows, time doesn't allow often. Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  1. While I typically don’t like the design of Wing Gundam, it do however find it objectively aesthetically pleasing with that much details on 1/144 scale body.
And that Scorpion plamodel must be quite repetitive with so many identical legs xD.

  3. Bandai are slowly revealing more of the RX78-02, but I can’t tell where in the timeframe of the overall Gundam: The Origin series this model comes from. There could be additional parts to recreate every possible version of the 02, but I would really like to see a different backpack for the shoulder mounted cannon and updated core fighter.

The Frame Arms/HIQ Parts collaboration would appear to have been in the planning stages for a while now as they use photos of the Type 32 Model 5C ZEN-RAI on the back of their Pixel Camouflage Decals. You could say this addresses something the Frame Arms kits have been missing since the first generation of kits, especially when you compare the Gourai artwork with the finished out of the box kit. The Pixel decals are difficult to apply as the whole sheet is one giant decal that you have to carefully cut and trim close to the edge of the camo then hope that its dried into place when you attempt to apply another, I’ve actually lost quite a few of them this way.

    • I actually watched the video because I saw the photo of the Arnval prototype that are with the Kotobukiya pics as Konami haven’t touched Busou Shinki for a few years now.

  4. Does anyone know of a good place to find replacement parts for an MG Strike Freedom? I need I1, I2, I4, I5, I12, and I13.
