Star Gaogaigar w/Repli-Galeon (D-Style) by Kotobukiya (Available From HobbyLink Japan – HLJ.com)
Star Gaogaigar is getting ready for his finale in this non-scale kit, and includes Repli-Galeon. Let’s see what’s inside the box.
D-Style?! The box is even bigger than an MG due to the extra plates. The price is 4200 JPY but you can get 20% off at HLJ.com!
The other side of the box shows the various gimmicks and combinations that are possible. Lots of options, and a big hammer for those jobs around the house.
When you crack open the box you’ll see a fair number of colors at the bottom, including some clear plates.
The manual cover matches the box, and for me this art never gets old.
This one seems to be more complicated than most D-style kits. A lot less blank white space around the steps.
Here are plates shown in alphabetical order. Note the duplicate plates in different colors.
These are F plate according to the manual. Decent detail though prepainted for the Shinkansen look.
For some final thoughts: I enjoyed the previous Gaogaigar kit from Kotobukiya and this one looks to be following very closely in its footsteps. Good coloring, especially on the bullet trains and backpack, loads of plates from A to U, and duplicate plates all mean it should be fun building. Repli-Galeon will make a nice addition, but overall I’m wondering how it will look with the new core. Let’s find out in the next part! Thanks for checking this out.
