S.H.Figuarts Yoshi by Bandai Available From HobbyLink Japan
By Cacophanus from Mecha Damashii
Following Bandai’s Mario and Luigi figures we now finally have a Yoshi, too. Like the other toys in this range, Yoshi is also fully articulated which is a first for the Super Mario series in terms of merchandise.
Yoshi debuted back in 1990 as sidekick to both Mario and Luigi in the classic Super Mario World. Since then Yoshi has been featured in all manner of Nintendo games and even had a few of his own.
Acting as a dinosaur-esque steed to the Italian plumbers, Yoshi can eat enemies and fire them back out. Not to mention that once atop Yoshi, both Mario and Luigi can use him as an ersatz shield if need be.
Mechanically Yoshi was meant to add another layer to the game design on top of the regular power ups that you could historically use. With his own handling and character, it wasn’t long until Yoshi became a fan favorite.
So to have this new figure is really great, especially as it comes with a good selection of gimmicks and allows both Mario and Luigi to ride him.
Keep an eye out for the review that will be on its way soon!
