Red Five Battle of Ceres (1st Limited Edition) by Kotobukiya (Available From HobbyLink Japan – HLJ.com)
Red Five is a mecha from the anime Majestic Prince piloted by the main character Izuru Hitachi. It looks a bit wild, so let’s see what’s inside the box before putting it all together!
Sharp cover art, with red being the main color for some strange reason.
Big box — even bigger than a modern Master Grade.
And the price is only 6800 JPY, which is relatively low for Kotobukiya kits. And you can even get a 20% discount at HLJ.com!
The side of the box shows off the gimmick of a wild-looking full burst mode, and the bonuses of purchasing this as a first run.
When you crack open the box, it’s packed with intriguing plates as soon as you dive in.
Nice touch with the ‘operation manual,’ with a simple design that still looks good.
It doesn’t seem too hard to put together, with 3 or 4 parts added per step.
Here are some of the plates that will jump out at you. There’s metallic blue, champagne, and some clear parts to kick things off.
And here are all the plates shown in alphabetical order. Look at that Berserker hair!
It’s always pleasant when there’s a stand in the box.
And a small set of colored seals.
Some final thoughts. The manga or the animation of Majestic Prince may not be familiar to many of us, but the mecha seems to be exciting enough. As the very first kit in a new line this kit would definitely be the best one to begin with. From the cover art and the manual, we can already see a good-looking mecha we’re going to get. However, I’m a little bit worried if it stays together well, or if it can stand up. Let’s find out in part 2! Thanks for reading!

Some day soon I’m going to have to give a Kotobukiya kit a try.

Yeah, it is cool, sadly though … I tried and tried, but failed to make it stand up without the stand 😛
