It’s a BIG week for new plamo! From Gundam, we’ve got the MG Rick-Dom and Hi-Res Astray, and that’s only a fraction of what’s new! Bandai also offers new 30MM, Kyoukai Senki, and Pokemon kits, with Macross, Votoms, and a new sushi model kit hitting the shelves from other manufacturers. Check out the haul below, and grab your favorites before they’re gone!
If any kits in this post are backordered when you read this, don’t worry — Bandai is great about restocking periodically. But, you’ll want to get your order in to secure a spot in line for the next restock!
The 1/100-scale Rick-Dom from “Mobile Suit Gundam” has now been upgraded with a new exterior and internal structures! The color is new, and the internal vernier unit is reproduced, as is the enlarged backpack and rear skirt. The soles of the Rick-Dom’s feet are precisely expressed with mechanical details of the space vernier, and it’s armed with the Beam Bazooka, Giant Buzz, and heat saber.
The Gundam Astray Red Frame Powered Red from “Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Astray” gets a spectacular new Hi-Resolution model kit from Bandai! It incorporates the enhanced drive system known as the Power Cylinder; while maintaining the high-definition form that the Hi-Resolution lineup is known for, the Powered Red’s distinctive shoulders and arms are newly modeled. A finished frame, a Hi-Resolution hallmark, is included too. The sub-arm that mounts the Gerbera Straight rotates, enabling realistic sword-drawing poses. The Gerbera Straight’s blade is embossed and plated, and the stem is engraved as well. The upper arm, elbow and wrist armor move smoothly in conjunction with the joints.
The Brady Hound (Blood exclusive) from “Kyoukai Senki” gets a new model kit from Bandai! It can be combined with the Stoke Carry or mass-production machine; it comes with two swords, and the rifle magazine and grenade can be removed. Two types of hands are included; head parts for its parked state are included, which can be reproduced by parts replacement. The foot claws can be stored, and the characteristic shape of Blood’s machine, including the shoulder, head and sword, is carefully reproduced.
30 Minutes Missions
The new female version of 30MM (30Minutes Missions) Spinatio is now available in a command specification! This all-in-one item combines armor and weapon parts in addition to the main figure; while taking full advantage of the range of mobility, there’s no pinching during assembly. Various weapons such as a chain gun, combat knife and shield are included, and a common 3mm joint structure allows you to combine existing 30MM items with this kit.
The Mobile-Movementess (MoMo) plastic model kit series is here with their Orca addition! This fembot boasts 17 different 3mm ports and comes with two swords, along with a cannon gun. Don’t forget about how insanely articulated she is, too!
This pre-painted plastic model of the fighter’s “face” features highly detailed recreations of the cockpit and landing gear. The model can be displayed with character plastic models in the same scale for an even more impressive display. Enjoy creating your collection of Valkyries from throughout the history of Macross!
Hobby Japan brings us a new-mold Choi-Pla model kit of the Scopedog from “Armored Trooper Votoms”! Molded in dark blue, it’s armed with its double-magazine short-barrel heavy machine gun, as well as the pile bunker. Part of its head, its arms and legs are movable after assembly; the cockpit hatch opens and closes, too.
Cinderace is the 50th entry in Bandai’s Pokepla Select lineup! Moveable thighs, knees and ankles mean Cinderace can get into any of his signature poses, and his head and arms can be moved too; even his chest is jointed. A display stand is included to support him, and a Kaen Ball effect part and support are also included.
Are you up for the challenge? This plastic model kit builds into your very own pair of pieces of kappa (cucumber) roll sushi! Each grain of rice is a separate part; there are 546 (!) rice grains included, and the manufacturer recommends using 273 grains of rice for each piece of kappa roll. This kit includes a sample of seaweed from the food sample company Iwasaki Co., Ltd.! Glue and nippers (not included) are required, and although you can build it without painting, why not take the extra step for an enhanced sense of realism?
For the first time in a while, Bandai adds its own model kit tools to its lineup! This week, they come in the form of 2 sets of sanding sticks — regular size, and mini size. Different grits are included in each set.
