Adding Panel Lines with a Fine tipped Brush
Not only panel lines can be made with a Gundam marker, but can also be done with a fine tipped paint brush and some paint. Make sure there is plenty of water and a small dab of paint and carefully add the paint carefully to the panel lines. Let the paint slide along within the panel lines. View
Alright, I’ve decided.
THIS is definitely the color scheme I’ll be doing for my MG Sandrock.
Now I just have to get started mixing up some custom colors…
🙂
As of right now, I’m not planning to put any decals or markings on this.
The concept I’m trying for is to make this look less like a machine and more like a living statue.
So warning markings & other stuff like that wouldn’t really work.
I was at a hobby store today and they sell thin sheets of polystyrene. You could always use those to make your own custom details with simple super glue, sanding, then painting.
I wanted to do that, but I really don’t want to damage a limited edition Gunpla. D:
Again, that’s a good idea, but I can’t really imagine any designs or additional details I might want to give this kit.
That may change in due time, but for now I’m thinking of keeping the original details & stuff the way it is.
Thanks anyway for the advice.
🙂
Hi everyone. Spent what little time I had today to build the Banshee head. I sharpened the V fins and coloured them gold using a marker. I coloured the the inner frame bronze too. I’m not really satisfied with the results though.
Try turpenoid. It’s a LOT safer than turpentine and a muuuuch weaker dissolver. Put a little bit on a paper towel and start (gently) rubbing it (in one direction) on the painted surface. The quicker you do it the better too. Don’t want that oil marker to dry too fast. From my experience it hasn’t weakened the plastic part at all because I use the…[Read more]
I would actually suggest that you buy Simple Green instead. Chemically, it doesn’t disrupt the double bonds of polystyrene and ABS like other reagents would. This means that you can have your oil-covered piece of plastic on it for days and the plastic won’t get eaten up.
If you’re not using it for plastic, Simple Green’s great for cleaning…[Read more]
Which grade is this one? I’m trying to find the Unicorn Gundam Banshee Ver. Ka. Final Battle edition. I know they they’re re-stocking those and couldn’t find them at a convention I was at.
Hi everyone, here is my proposed entry for the competition: the Zanneck mobile suit from Victory Gundam built on the frame of the RG Zaku. Thanks HLJ for hosting such a great contest, I know it’s definitely gotten me more motivated.
I definitely agree with that (hence my avatar). I decided against the V2 since Bandai’s making the HGUC soon so I went with my favorite Zanscare suit instead. Actually I almost decided to try for the Dodgore but that probably wouldn’t have turned out well.
Ok, so here’s my entry for the Playing with Plamo contest. The MG Jesta. I´m not yet 100% set on what I plan to do with it, but I will figure it out along the way. First step is to clean up all the parts and do a test fit on this thing.
My FedEx box finally showed up after jumping up at every passing car and truck on my rural back road. I swear we don’t get half the traffic we do when I’m waiting on HLJ goodies 😉
I also have the Tamiya Toyota 86. The Tamiya kit is decent kit, pretty typical of one of their mid-range offerings. But it doesn’t include an entire engine – it builds off a chunk of plastic attached to the inner fender wells ala the DBS. Also the Tamiya kits can only be built JDM.
The Aoshima kits are cheaper (by about $10US) look better…[Read more]
Ok so just had 2 Packages show up today my haul for this Month
Frist ones from HLJ Second package is not but had to show him off Super excited its like Christmas
let us know how the Kshatriya build goes – i almost bought this once and would love to see how it sizes up to actual bandai master grades. looks like a fun build 🙂
I can tell ya now There is a lot of clean up to do on this guy but that’s fine I still Prefer this one over the
Resin build as I don’t have the
Experience to build the full resin kit
I’ve got one in the post, so I’ll be building it soon. I don’t mind a bit of cleanup. I used to design and manufacture resin garage kits, so I don’t mind a bit of work. I think resin kits have moved on since I made them though. Mine was very “garage” even down to actually being made in my garage!
Oh nice yea u”ll love it just make sure u do a parts Count Especially on the metal parts as some were not in bags and were all over the tray but the parts I was missing they have resent them in the post
Visually I think it looks great, though from a marketing point of view, I think it’s missing *instant* recognition that you’d want from an RX-78 kit… since the colour of the suit is kind of washed out and the same as the space around it… I dunno, I think the flagship model kit should be more obvious and stand out…? Its legs take up most of…[Read more]
Well here’s one I finished at the beginning of the year – Academy 1/72 SB2C-4 Helldiver. This kit came with PE dive brakes, I added the interior PE from Eduard too.
Thanks very much Rhys – believe me I have quite a bit I could put up but I don’t want to be the only guy on here building aircraft although it does seem that way at the moment hahaha. Never mind though I’ll get some more stuff up I’m glad you like it.
I’d bet. I’m still working on my first property aircraft model. It the super marine sea fire fr.46 by air fix. With hope this month I could be putting up so WIP of it.
I just used an old thin brush that had some worn bristles dipped in a little acrylic aluminum. I jabbed it lightly on the surface, the bad bristles ensured the result would be random which I thought makes it a bit more realistic.
Do it, it’s an awesome suit.
Yes. Its a nice model!
