Intermediate Modeler – Modeling Competition 2017 3 years, 7 months agoThanks all for all the viewings and feedback. it’s definitely a long journey for me. it paid off in the end. It’s a big surprise I got bumped to the Advanced catagory and came 2nd. Thanks HLJ for organizing this great event. It’s an eye opening experience to see the outstanding works from talent all over the world.

Yes you did. saw u entry in the advanced group. .. I love your led mods on the macross ship so much. so well executed. As u say.. not easy to pull it off with this small scale. I would love to get this kit too.. so much details!.. fun to see it coming to life

cheers mate, the only thing i can recommend if anyone is going to try something similar is to have a good supply of tiny drill bits and use epoxy glue for the fibre optics. model glue and super glue eats the stuff, and you wont know until you go to test the lights

Will there be a video to explain the choice of judges and a ranking of the losers? History to see where we are in the competition because I know that I am not the only one to claim a ranking … You think it would be possible?

We’ll have a video a little later — we decided not to delay the results just to be able to post them with the video, so we went ahead and got the winners up first. I expect Ryan and Todd will have more to say when they film.

Maybe next time try this: thin black, more medium gray, and mostly white camo. From head to toe, black, gray, white patterns like water waves or straight lines or digits (blocks). Hard edges are ok.

Repeat that pattern all over the body. For ideas, google “winter camo aircraft”

Is that a matte semi candy coat? I actually really like how it turned out.

It’s actually a glossy lacquer finish. On the pics it looks semi glossy because I chose specific angles to show the iridescent effect as much as possible.

Yeah, I think I should start working on a gunpla as from now itself and do crazy mods to it but keep all the pics secret. When there’s another competition, I’ll be ready then, hihihi.

As long as I don’t post any pics online, I think it should be alright, lolz. To be honest, I think the 4 months are more than enough to build any kits with great modifications. I was the one who waited the last minute. I wanted to work on a 2nd RG Sinanju and was waiting for replacement parts that never became available. And I never really was…[Read more]

i saw it as more as a challenge to do something different. the fact i finished something worth posting (despite the maddening frustration) was an achievement. I actually liked looking at what other do and it has helped my next build. I wouldn’t get too hung up about prizes but they were a good incentive…..im more pissed that after the results…[Read more]

Français ici ! Yeah I’m starting to be a bit anxious about the results. I think I did OK, but I saw some pretty good builds in the WIP posts and I’m not sure where I stand. that was a race to the deadline though, not sure I’d like to do that again.

We’re just anxious about who wins. I’m not holding my breath. I have a number of winners in mind. Given gunpla is the bread and butter, I’m guessing the gunpla entries will snag half of the awards. That’d be no surprise.

You’re not the only one. I see contestants posing their names, account #, etc. in these forums. I know they didn’t submit their entries.
I have yet to see a company-held contest that accepts entries in forums. All of them require entries to be submitted via a webpage or email. This contest requires WIP photos here so I think that may have been…[Read more]

I think they have sooo many to give a confirmation to that it’ll take a while if at all, however you should have seen a submitted successful note on the web page when you submitted. I did and took a picture if it. I still haven’t received a confirmation either.
