Sick of white paint. It clogged up my airbrush and even after I unclogged it and used more it still wasn’t thinned enough to spray properly. It’s so thick and goopy. After my Tallgeese I don’t think i’ll be using white paint for a while. Or if I do i’ll use something other than Tamiya.

    • Was that Tamiya acrylic you were working with? If so, I’m surprised you had those problems with it. Possible weather/climate conditions aside, they’re usually really easy to work with even without using their brand of thinners.

      • I’m wondering the same thing. I’ve NEVER had any clogging issues with Tamiya before. What type of thinner were you using?

        • It’s flat white if that matters and it was tamiya thinner. The white I was using seemed very oily and thick. Especially compared to my greys which are very liquid. Maybe I just didn’t thin it enough. It took ages to get it unclogged.

    • I really haven’t worked with their flat paints yet, but I have not had any trouble out of Tamiya paints. I have heard from a few sources, one being Dlinker, that the flat paints can be problematic. What was your paint:thinner ratio and what PSI were you spraying at?

      • Now that is VERY strange. I ran into just about every problem but that one, haha.

      • I didn’t notice anything different with their flat colors in terms of thinning or behavior during sprays. I’ve painted flat blue, red, dark sea gray, and black using the same ratio as the gloss colors (1:1.5). Might be weather/climate conditions that require more thinning than usual. Or just a bad bottle of paint.

        • I could have sworn you told me that they tend to clog up easily and look chalky when they cure.

          • I have experienced the chalkiness, but never clogging.

            • Hmm, I must have been wrong then. Dlinker is probably right in that case. Weather and humidity, bad paint is probably the cause.

          • The chalky part is 100% certain, haha. The only flat that looked good out of my uses was the flat black.

Clogging issues, I didn’t encounter any yet. However, I have seen something like that happen in the bottles themselves, resulting in me having to shake/mix them for a while. It’s like the pigments clump up at the bottom and need a good deal…[Read more]

            • They do tend to dry very chalky but have never had them clog or lump up and i have thinned with their thinner and alcohol.

Man I really hope they release MG Jegan and Geara Zulu this year.

    • I’d KILL for a MG Geara Zulu, guards or no. It really wouldn’t be that hard, since the Marasai and the Doga had basically the same inner frame.

    • I’d love an MG Jegan. The customizing possibilities on that are astounding.

    • I’d still give my left foot for a MG Dreissen or Zogok.

      • An MG Jegan is actually extremely likely to be released at this point. It made a major cameo in BF, which definitely boosted its popularity, and it could reuse much of the Jesta frame. Easy money for Bandai.

        • It would be cool if it was a planned release for this year, but I don’t mind if they save it up for a special, like another anniversary. The fact that a Turn X kit is being released at all gives me hope that Bandai is just biding its time with releasing the really good stuff.

          • Except for the Kshatriya.

It would be really neat if the Jegan and Geara Zulu got announced this year.

            • You’re right, we’ll probably never get an official Kshatriya that’s bigger than 1/144. It’s one of the few exceptions to the rule. Some designs are simply too much to create for the time being. Maybe a decade from now we’ll get them, once a stronger material for kits is invented.

              • I don’t think it’s the material that’s the problem. At 1/100 it would just be ridiculously big. At 1/144 it’s bigger than a lot of MGs. At 1/100 it would probably be verging near perfect grade size. The price would be horrendous too. Same applies to the psyco gundam. I really wish they’d release a HG of the psyco gundam mark 2. It looks a lot…[Read more]

                • Bandai announced some time ago that they would not be releasing an MG of the Kshatirya, the main reason being that the prototype was extremely unstable, and that the price would be beyond insanity. Don’t worry, we will eventually get one, just like with the MG Wing kits. Expect it twenty to thirty years from now.

                  • Also, a reveal for an MG Rozen Zulu would probably be the greatest words I ever read on the computer screen for a while. That suit is a thing of beauty.

                    • You mean one with the proper coloring?

                      • I don’t care if they give us the original line art colors or the ones from the anime.

                        • I’m talking about how the hg was supposed to be released with purple coloring, and bandai sent it with brown coloring instead. Even advertised it as purple and pink and it came packaged as brown and pink.

                          • As I said before, I don’t care if they make it brown as the original line art depicts, or the anime colors. It’s all fine for me.

                          • That was a turn-off for me when I first saw the review pics of the kit. A different color from all of the advertisements? I guess it’s not so bad for an HG kit, but an MG version should really come out with something closer, if only to make it easier for the OOB builders.

I think they look pretty awesome. The details on them are great. Personally i’d go with this one:

Making decent progress with my Tallgeese TV version. I’ve nearly finished one of the thrusters, legs and the shield. I’m gonna go get more paint tomorrow. There’s so many kits I want. I don’t want to wait for them to get here from Asia! I want to get a zaku I or The O at some point. Also want a Zaku FZ and a GM Sniper 2 and (list goes on…[Read more]

Nice kits. I want to get the GM Sniper II and Zaku kai at some point in the future. The hy-gogg has like a million seam lines. Hope you deal with them better than I did.

    • I was so stoked to get the Hy-Gogg, but the seam lines are a real letdown. I don’t much like the idea of having to choose between losing the submersible mode or not because of the hands, and the way the shoulder pads were designed just baffles me. Here’s to hoping Build Fighters paves the way for a Master Grade version that does this unit some…[Read more]

      • Phew, glad that fiasco with the Strike is over. The Hy-Gogg is a wondrous design. Shame about all those seamlines.

    *for the beam saber.

    • Congratulations! Working an airbrush is rather tricky, so be careful with thinning the paint, distance, and keeping it clean in-between paint sessions.

So happy. My mum unexpectedly got me an airbrush for christmas. Not a namebrand one but like it matters. Currently embarking on painting my Tallgeese in tv series colours at long last. On the rebawoo I was disappointed to see that the it doesn’t have a clear part. Wouldn’t have expected that.
