Spent the weekend on the other side of the country to attend Souther California Gundam Model Competition. Heading home now. It was a lot of fun, I highly recommend going to next year’s competition if you have the means. View
I STAND TO WIN! Somewhat. I was hyped about The-O until I bought it. It really is a big HG more than an MG kit. A real shame. I might do the one I win in opposite paint theme, black with yellow waterslides. […]
I believe HG line started out as a 1/100 in the first place, some time ago now. But they cut those “in half” building cheaper 1/144 scale HG exclusives. The RE 100 probably refers to the old days when HGs were […]
Hi guys! I’ll post the same question on a few threads here so that it’s easier for it to become an attention grabber. I’m looking for the best high gloss varnish that I can get. Also, I’m thinking about Liquitex high gloss varnish. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
Ho many chemicals do you want in your hobby room?
Best results come from a 2K clear as used in the auto industry. Zero Paints make some for the hobby but they are full of nasty chemicals and can take some practice. They also do a 1K which sprays out of the jar.
My personal preference is the Alclad range.
There are the rattle cans from Tamiya etc,…[Read more]

I have a bit of fear towards lacquer based coats. Don’t get me wrong, I believe their top coats are premium quality however, being a lacquer made me worry of the effect it may have on enamel and/or acrylic paints I may use. I did read somewhere that their top coats are a lot weaker than the normal lacquer paints, not eating through the paint of…[Read more]
Not sure how it behaves unfortunately, was just a thought since it looks nice as a finish. The only other stuff I had used is Testors gloss spray can, no idea if you can buff that up or not.
Thanks anyway. As I’m in no position to buy myself a test stock and just test these varnishes and top coats this kind of heavy research has to be done. I’ve bought myself a bottle of Liquitex gloss, it should be as close to Future, without the yellowing part and I’ll start from there. I’ve watched a review of Alclads high gloss regular lacquer…[Read more]

I recommend not posting the same thing on different threads, it just annoys people and make them not want to help usually.
as for the high gloss finish, “future floor polish” is the general big recommendation. but just as important as the product is the surface prep, if it’s not smooth it won’t shine.
Does an airplane change it’s “sex” when a female’s driving it? Or a horse for that matter? ‘Triya’s a big and bulky, well armored, well armed fat suit painted like something resembling the army green theme that […]

Online website for those who can’t make it to a live location will be available later this year, likely end of summer.
Also you can’t really do a proper comparison of the Hasegawa “non-transformable” kit with the Bandai “transformable” simply because the engineering is worlds apart. Hasegawa kit is a standard “glue em up and paint […]
Thete are a few pretty amazing resin Kshatriyas out there, both in 1/100 scale and I think there’s a 1/60 or so too, not sure. 1/100 look amazing with all the LEDs etc. it costs an arm and a leg too and demands […]
In some way I wouldn’t call a resin kit a bootleg rather than a so called “garage kit”. They’re made to replicate something compared to being cast in plastic mimicking the Bandai stuff. On the other hand, resin […]
