It’s starting to look a lot different, now that the rough color is on. If you have a keen eye, you might also be able to see that some of the larger armor pieces have been split into their smaller components by careful sawing along the panel lines.
I figured a damaged ball would make a more compelling hangar diorama than a pristine one, so I’ve done same battle damage that would make this pilot the luckiest one in the universe. I’m debating having some blistering creep into the side panel, but it’ll probably be removed on the final build so I may not bother. In any case, paint starts tomorrow.
I didn’t make nearly as much progress as I would have liked, but test fitting is important too! After securing the support beans in place, they wouldn’t hold the ball. I decided that I wasn’t a huge fan of the pipes in the H hangar floor plates, so I had tons of fun puttying and sanding it. The groundwork for the new stand for the ball is also in there but still needs a lot more cleaning up before I can move forward on it.
