Hello again, now then, master grade unicorn phenex!

…now I’ve done a test with spray can paints on coated runners, I seen the effect if I used too much paint (and even then who knows the long term effect of even a single thin coat) but what about decal bonder or…how the heck am I meant to deal with water slides?

I could just slap them on from water straight to part, but I kinda want to protect them, anyone got an idea what to do (if only it was a rub transfer, my mg hyaku shiki is still holding up well :c)

      • It would…if I didn’t know how to apply water slides.

I forgot to mention, I know how to use water slides, I made an mg nu gundam ver ka, took 2 water slides to know what to do, dip into water, slap onto a glossy surface, add decal setter (mark softer or mark setter, i keep forgetting which is why but i only got the one and its the correct one for just better sticking) and another coat of clear paint (once dry) to help protect the decal.

The problem here is what would I need to do DIFFERENTLY to a plated kit, obviously I can skip the gloss surface as it already is, but im not too sure about the effect of the decal solution (i tried to do a test but…its the wrong kinda plastic) and clear paint (I did a test with some spare runners, too much can make the paint run but just enough does the job, but I’d never see the long term effect it’ll have…)

Thus, my concern is, what needs to be done differently other than skipping the gloss surface?

        • ahh I see, well I haven’t really seen anything about doing anything different on plated parts. I’d assume you don’t intend to paint the parts, that sorta defeats the purpose of the plating so that running issue shouldn’t be a problem, paint can’t run if it’s not there.

anyways don’t think I can really help you with that issue since you already do know the process but good luck hope it goes well.

the only thing I can think of other than what you’ve already done is find a decal on the sheet that isn’t used and a plated part that isn’t used and try with that. that way you have an actual piece you can see the effects on more clearly
