The Pokemon Plamo Mewtwo kit takes us all the way back to 2013, when “Pokemon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened” first aired in theaters. The kit was later repackaged for the “Pokemon Sun & Moon” […]
The big release for August is in! The RG Nu Gundam is here and Todd can’t wait to take a look at it and build it! Join us as we take a peek inside the box of this highly anticipated kit (that Todd really, r […]
Hey, anybody on the HLJ staff playing the new Fire Emblem: Three Houses? It’s blowing up the subreddit I frequent, making it all the worse that I don’t yet have a Switch. FOMO in full effect, gaaaahhhhh…
But, are you guys likely to get the Animagear line in? New Bandai line, super kid friendly, looks a little like the SD Cross Silhouette frames with clip on animal parts.
They look like they’d be fun to custom build, paint up etc.
Hopefully, Bandai releases the MG Gunner Zaku Warrior also soon in early September so I can have my private warehouse items shipped including this awesome NU Gundam.
MG Barbatos looks like it has a lot of piston moving gimmicks from the promo images, which I’m looking forward to. I also want to see a MG G-Self happen. C’mon Bandai.
I was surprised to meet a fellow HLJ shopper last Monday 05.08.19 when I was collecting parcels from the post office. It seems your popularity has spread to even my town.
Today Jarod looks at the Dinosaur Arc: Tyrannosaurs vs. Velociraptor Duel Set, a super easy no hassle snap-fit kit. We were excited to have a closer look at this kit because of its no nipper/no glue assembly that […]
Liking the variety in kits you’re doing these days! I’ve been a big fan of dinosaurs ever since I was a kid, I might just pick this kit up! Looks like it’ll take litte effort to put together too, bonus!
This week we take a look at the Kotobukiya Megami Device Type Jaeger Edelweiss in all her four-sword winged glory! Our resident master of the blade Dave takes the reigns to talk about this beauty of a kit w […]
Glad to hear that you finished the PG 🎉🎆🎉 and will tackle the MG Dynames Todd, hopefully we will be making up for not having much in this show LoL 😋. Hope your coworker feels better soon and maybe you guys can review the official “Entry Level” nippers from Bandai if you receive them soon with Dave, I remember many moons back when I tried to build a kit with a standard box cutter 😱 and what a painful mistake that was both literally and metaphorically 😖 I know lessons are being learned because of this 😊…keep up the good work as always 😉👍
I have already looked at a lot of reviews on the Dynames model, but I’m still tormented by the feeling that it’s just a mix of 1/100 Dynames and mg Exia …
The Gundam Dynames is already on the way together with the Narrative Gundam C-Packs, the Gustav Karl and the U.N.C.F. AAA-Class DX. It will be a tough decision to choose one first.
MG G GN-002 Gundam Dynames is finally here! Does this mean that Bandai might intend to make an MG 2.0 version of some/all of the existing MGs from Mobile Suit Gundam 00?
I’m looking forward to the comparison between Megami Device Jaeger Edelweiss and Diver Ayame. I been thinking about getting Ayame but i’m unsure how well she will fit in with my Kotobukiya Frame Arms Girls and Megami Devices.
Nice work David, but if you really are a little unsure about the Kotobukiya’s Girls kits you could alwaysuse it for a kit giveaway so long as I win ??????? PS: Safety first. Can’t have you losing fingers and being unable to help bring new kit builds to review.
You may be familiar with the kotatsu, a low table covered in a thick blanket with a heater underneath, popular in Japan during those cold winter days. But you know who could use a heated table more than you or […]
I was in Odaiba in Tokyo at the end of August for the “Tales of the Abyss” stage play, and was pleasantly surprised to run across a “Dragon Ball Super” event happening at the same time! This event was held from […]
On this episode, Lindsay and David show off Alter’s newest masterpiece – the 1/8th scale Gwendolyn from “Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir”! Featuring stunning, half-translucent wings and an impressive level of detail all […]
Played the original Odin Sphere, proud owner of Leifthrasir, and I would be even more proud do have her next to her figma. Now, if only they could make a Velvet figure….
I loved Odin Sphere since the era of PS2 and it made me binge it to completion. And with the release of Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, I had a game to binge on the days to come in my PS Vita. And if I were to get this figure, it would be great if Alter would make a 1/8 scale figure of Oswald to pair these two.
I got to say that this is quite the spectacular figure, the semi-translucent plastic on the wings is a great idea and it blows the figma i got a while back out of the water. I might sell off the figma and try gathering enough money to grab this one, but first ill wait and see if the RNG gods love me or not
Never knew about Odin sphere until this video popped up. Am now interested, I enjoy rich stories and beautiful anime girls in my games. Angel wings are also a favorite feature of mine and her’s are absolutely stunning. Would love to win so I can admire this figure all the time.
I would imagine the reason Atlas painted the black feathers the way the did is to create an iridescent-like effect as most birds with feathers that appear black are actually iridescent. Amazing work though
Odin Sphere has always had such gorgeous and colourful designs. It doesn’t surprise me that Alter wanted to do a second Gwendolyn figure! She looks absolutely stunning with those feathers! I can’t get over how amazing they are. If they look THAT good in the video, I bet they’re way better in person! I’m actually quite impressed with the base as well. I wondered if it would turn out okay after seeing a few prototypes but it works so well with Gwen. Now I want to play the game all over again…
Alter does an amazing job with details and painting. I also appreciate how they don’t make huge bases. You don’t get this level of detail and painting even on the figmas. So if I wanted to use all my luck to win something from Toy Tengoku it’s Gwen.
Alter makes great figures, I’m so glad they made one of Gwendolyn. I’ve loved her design for a long time, and this is probably the best figure of her that I’ve seen, not much in the way of armpits though! 😛
I hesitated so long on buying the first Alter Gwendolyn because of the aftermarket prices that now they’ve made another one that’s even more stunning! Please, my Mercedes needs a friend.
Another Alter figure that’s guaranteed to be top notch in the design, sculpting, pose and quality of the paint job as seen on this video. I have two Alter figures in my collection that are worth every single penny I paid for them.
she is absolutely stunning. I mean wow just look at those wings. If I don’t win her she may very well become the first figure I buy for a character who’s source material I’ve never seen!
I don’t quite have a fetish but it’s a stunning figure which is great that you open them because it makes the person that wins it open it to fully appreciate the sculpt! Great show as always.
I was overjoyed last week as I speculated in comments about figures from Cells at Work and then this summers Wonder Festival previews a Nendriod of Mr white blood cell.
With regards to your coverage of the show, it seemed somewhat short & in the nature of an official press release. Anyone wanting a more comprehensive look should check out ZEROSTIG for a more extensive rundond of all the exhibitors.
I hope you guys can use your skills to review the GBWC this year as i know you can do greate reviews.
to me i like how the figure look and feel, but the price tag is a little bit too much for a 1/8 figure. however looking at the details i cant complain.
i didn’t play the game or heard of it before, but my friend is a huge fan of the game and the figure as he was so exited once he saw the restock in HLJ. so if i win this i will give it to him as a gift, so if your see this in the episode “ZSabber” congratulation 🙂
This is a great looking figure. All this talk about Odin Sphere reminds of how amazing those games looked and how food was such a big part of that game.
The wings look really amazing, so detailed and the colours bright and pop out in contrast to the character. Never played the game, but it does look very interesting and its a 2d side scrolling game, tempted to try it.
Just had my second kid(love her to bits!), which means acquiring sweet sweet collectibles just entered “hard mode” territory. I’d love to have this in my collection. Pretty please?
i canm recommend their other fantasy game, dragons crown. its a fun coop brawler. i dont evenl ike any other brawlers. they are so great at character design and it shows in the figure too
One of the most beautiful figures I’ve ever seen! Given the translucency of the wings, I’d imagine having a low light source behind them would enhance the colors and effect.
On this special episode of Toy Tengoku, we head on down to Makuhari Messe in Tokyo for Wonder Festival 2018 [Summer]! Wonder Festival is the biggest figure show and garage kit exhibition in Japan, so there’s […]
Those kingdom hearts nendies are so cute nendies and i usually dont like chibi stuff. Maybe its because they already have weird proportions. but those clownshoessure shrank alot.
With your insider knowledge can you tell if an anime is going to get a figure release?
I was not expecting Tohru so now I have hopes for more obscure anime figures. is it possible that Hataraku Saibau (Cells at Work) and Uma Musume may also be realised in figure form?
Hello,
I would love to go to that kind of event ! So many cool anime figures…
I must admit that since a few years, the detailing and finishing textures and everything on those standing figures are just amazing…
Nothing comparable with what we had at the time (I mean like 15 years ago… 🙂
Some of them are really outstanding ! (PS: For Ryan, I do love your big classic Predator figure for example, it’s a great one ! Would love an epic alien standing figure with so many options as feat with the Predator.. 😉
Nice footage by the way..
With HobbyLink Japan’s recent introduction of great new gaming gear, the team took a trip to the Makuhari Messe convention center yesterday for our second-ever coverage of Tokyo Game Show! This was the biggest […]
Join us for a look at the latest figure news from Alter, Kotobukiya and Revolve! And don’t miss out on MegaHouse’s impressive lineup from the event, covered in our previous post!
The HLJ team took a trip to Akihabara over the last weekend in May for two great events–the first was Bandai’s Tamashii Nations Summer Collection 2015!
One of the biggest highlights of the event was this […]
Great coverage! I’ve also seen photos where the SH Figuarts Avengers figures were shown. Do you guys at HLJ know if pre-orders for Hulk, Luke Skywalker, etc might open again?
This was my fourth kit, and biggest challenge yet–the HGBF Hi-Nu Gundam Vrabe! I knew this would be more time consuming than the previous Gunpla I had built, so I got started on it right after its release […]
Nice build!
And great to see your partner in crime. Hahaha
My little lady loves to help me too when I’m building by jumping right into a pile of parts. Could you help me how to teach her to actually build parts? LOL
Thanks for sharing, keep up the great work. Happy building!
Do you plan on evolving your skill towards the next level, say, light detail painting and so on?
Mine’s waiting for shipping in Private Warehouse at HLJ. It’ll be an interesting build though an MG Hi Nu Ver.Ka is also waiting it’s turn for the build. It’ll be interesting to see the design similarities between these two kits.
The HLJ crew rushed off to Tokyo bright and early on February 8 for Wonder Festival 2015 winter! The event is held at the gigantic Makuhari Messe convention center and takes up all 8 of the available halls. […]
gold four from majestic prince!!!! red five was an awesome build, although I would perefer for kotobukiya to launch blue one.
also what the hell? only one macross related stuff? and one that has been previously released… so sad.
Hey, anybody on the HLJ staff playing the new Fire Emblem: Three Houses? It’s blowing up the subreddit I frequent, making it all the worse that I don’t yet have a Switch. FOMO in full effect, gaaaahhhhh…
What gimmicks could they possibly put into an MG IBO kit?
Just in time for my new pair of nippers and RG Sazabi
You guys got Gundamjacked by your boss!
Can I get 2 of my comments on the next episode? One is on youtube.

Slightly off topic. Very off topic actually…
But, are you guys likely to get the Animagear line in? New Bandai line, super kid friendly, looks a little like the SD Cross Silhouette frames with clip on animal parts.
They look like they’d be fun to custom build, paint up etc.
Just when I thought “I’m done with rg kits” they pull me back again
Hopefully, Bandai releases the MG Gunner Zaku Warrior also soon in early September so I can have my private warehouse items shipped including this awesome NU Gundam.
BOSS BUILDS! Good to see Scott is building an RG
That was power abuse, right there.
Scott used “Executive Privilege” against Todd.
IT’S SUPER EFFECTIVE.
PS: Wow, thank you so much for the prize! You can be sure those 2000 yen will be well invested!

Now that is what I call a Boss move
That Buzz looks cool.
Awww yeah, another boss build incoming!
We need more MG kits
Another awesome review of RX. Thanks.
Great~ Thanks! Executive Privilege ! ! !
I am looking forward to this. I have heard so many great things about it.
