mixing with paint, of course if you want the gold paint to be smooth. If you intend to use airbrush, masking it will be best way to do it. What I did is –
1. spray black,
2. mask black, cut along the line,
3. spray gold.
4. touch up black paint if is over it.
5. clear coat.
Hope that help you.
aah! but i plan to handbrush it..somehow i forgot to type it..:/ can’t afford airbrushing and spray cans are generally expensive here in sweden at atleast where i bought my can..i tried it once masking and using spraycan on the mg strike freedom’s guns (the blue part) it turned out ok a little bleed but all in all ok. should i spray can or…[Read more]
my bad. Hand painting with metallic color, try adding leveling thinner if you can find it, or just few drop of retarded mild from Mr. Hobby. It will be more smoother. 🙂
If you are using Tamiya acrylic paint, yes. You can use X20A. If is lacquer paint, then you need leveling/retarded mild. have you use Tamiya enamel paint, is is really smooth with hand paint. 🙂
Thanks Kuroneko. I am very happy with the result and I was glad to hear your name announced as well. Frankly and with the utmost honesty I though your scratchbuild car was awesome!
I saw it in my local store, you can try ebay but don’t think is cheap because is EX model.. I thought you want the bigger size by Pair Dot that hlj throw out sale year ago.

Any topcoat will do. And that’s depend on what final result you. Dull metal color, flat coat. Shiny ‘bling bling’ metal finish, gloss.
If you using rattle can, you might take a look into commercial rattle can paint. If I’m not wrong, there is Chrome in a can, but best is do a resin primer first to prevent the color eating through color and into…[Read more]
thanks bro, suppose to do the Nur orange, until i google other LFA colour option, and found out that Steel Blue and Black Amethyst are very nice. So choose steel blue instead.
That is mirror finish chrome not silver. There are many like Alcad II or if you really want that chrome, try a Japanese brand (I can’t remember the brand) or MGM chrome powder (Taiwan), only chrome powder can such effect and of course it cannot be seal with clear coat.
If you are from America, this will not be a problem as there is number of…[Read more]
You don’t need any clear coat on tire decal, btw, is not dry transfer…is decal but printed opposite like high-tech decal. The way of doing it is cut the tire decal with water, wet your tires too, then flip the decal (means the decal is facing tires and decal backing is facing you.) After it sit on it, removed water and slowly removed the decal…[Read more]
make it easy to understand…after your primer, gloss black or semi-gloos black, then metallic color. Like Gold will be on black if you want your gold to shine. The rest are the same, black will be yor base color for all metallic color. The clear orange and clear yellow, are they suppose to be clear or metallic? Try…[Read more]
Looking at the display pic it has a hint of orange showing as its not quite a straight up gold, but a bright sun like color…
The plastic currently is close to it but the plastic defects are enhanced 10 fold by it somehow, guess bandai need more practice with “gold” plastic XD
Is a shame that you not able to finish it. Is a very interesting building you got there and I do agree with you on contestant should produce the best entry in competition. Hope you still able to squeeze in some more in the last 2 hours…
Glad I was able to help you out with the tyres, wasn’t sure if they were what you were after, since the tread is different but close to the dimensions you were looking for.
Mine is Silaire, and it have been with me since 1997. I pay S$1200 for this compressor and I usually spend 6- 10 hours on the airbrushing, and these hobby have been sticking with me for 30 years and counting…but compressor come in to my life in ’97.

first of all, this kit is built back in 1999, and there wasn’t a better/ correct spelling of ‘zieg’ or ‘sieg’ then, I only follow what Japanese written on their books ‘Zieg’ rather than after a more English correct of ‘Sieg’.
Like what Cthuihu said…thinned down the paint to watery. We always say “let it run.” If your enamel panel line color don’t run means your paint still too thick.
And one reminder, don’t try panel lining if you got a flat coat of your model especially the white. Do it on semi-gloss or gloss, after finish your panel lining, seal it with flat…[Read more]
