Weird, the Dra-C I got came in the mail today and it was plastic wrapped. Haven’t seen that in like a decade.

You could always find a metal barrel, or if you have a local hobby shop look for some of the brass tubing in roughly the right size and use a piece of that. Otherwise, it looks like a pretty common barrel design, you could maybe use the barrel off another gun.

I’m glad to finally have a backlog, nice to just be able to grab a kit and build it when you want to.

  • JMuss posted an update in the group Group logo of Gundam Forums Gundam Forums 9 years, 1 month ago

So what did everyone get over the holiday season in terms of gundam kits? Was gonna ask this on the forum but…

Anyways, I got (all hg) The Zogok, Genoace Custom, Clanche Custom, Age-2 Dark Hound, Shaldoll Rogue, G-Exes Jackedge, G-Xiphos, 00 Trans-am Raiser, Adele Diva colors, Byarlant Custom, Dra-C, and Blaze Zaku Phantom. Also got a NG Exia…[Read more]

    • In terms of model kits, I got nothing. I’m going to work on clearing out my backlog before I buy anymore kits. Those boxes take up a lot of space in my already space-deficient room.

      • I second and third this. My backlog is ridiculous right now, which stinks, because I want more new kits!

        • It’s a good thing Bandai makes sure that kits are always in supply. If we see a kit we want, it’s really just a matter of time until we get our hands on it, haha. The backlog will always be vulnerable to the passing of time.

          • I’m glad to finally have a backlog, nice to just be able to grab a kit and build it when you want to.

    • Going to have to say i have a wonderful wife and family, i walk away with a sazabi ver ka, mg geara doga, and a sinanju ova. Backlog for the rest of the year.

    • I got the Wing Proto Zero and the MG RX-78-2 3.0.

I got a few more kits by selling some old LEGO sets, so like Dlinker and Bossguy, I won’t be buying many kits this year. If any.

    • No model kit, but 1200$ on a self-built PC.
      Yup.
      I am poor as crap.

I’m talking about how the hg was supposed to be released with purple coloring, and bandai sent it with brown coloring instead. Even advertised it as purple and pink and it came packaged as brown and pink.

    • As I said before, I don’t care if they make it brown as the original line art depicts, or the anime colors. It’s all fine for me.

    • That was a turn-off for me when I first saw the review pics of the kit. A different color from all of the advertisements? I guess it’s not so bad for an HG kit, but an MG version should really come out with something closer, if only to make it easier for the OOB builders.

You mean one with the proper coloring?

    • I don’t care if they give us the original line art colors or the ones from the anime.

I liked this episode a lot more than the last one, still waiting for the K9 to be featured….

  • JMuss posted a new activity comment 9 years, 2 months ago

maybe the pilot will be featured in another suit, you never know. But like the pilot that took on the Kshatriya in the Jegan in I believe episode 1 and actually fared pretty well I want to know more about the pilot.

  • JMuss posted a new activity comment 9 years, 2 months ago

Screw it, went with the Byarlant custom. Hoping it, or the pilot at least shows up in the last episode of Unicorn. That was far too awesome of a scene to just leave it at that.

    • You won’t be disappointed with the Byarlant Custom. The knees are a little weak and it can topple over at the strangest times, but it’s a monster nonetheless.

Unfortunately, I think a good deal of the episode will be in space, judging from the preview video that was shown. I would love to see the Jestas in action one more time, though.

I’m about to just flip a coin on this one, it’s between the Messala and the Byarlant Custom. I probably will get the Dra-C as well, I just love the design. Just can’t make up my mind.

considered it, but I’m using some Amazon credit and the Kshatriya is a little out of my price range.

    • I see. If you’re looking for bulk, these three will get it to you: the HGUC Messala, the HGUC Byarlant Custom, and the HGUC Kshatriya.

  • JMuss posted an update in the group Group logo of Gundam Forums Gundam Forums 9 years, 2 months ago

So looking to buy a larger (height/bulk) or more unique HGUC kit, thinking the messala, doven wolf, gerbera tetra, byaralant custom, or the dra-c. Any opinions on these ones or suggestions for others?

    • I have the Byarlant Custom, and it is a very nice kit. It looks great, but it does have a lot of stickers. Painting them up is a real pain. Have you considered the Kshatriya? It’s absolutely massive.

    • Of the ones you asked about, i have the Dra C and Messala. Of those two i’d say go with the messala. It’s enormous for a HGUC, and it 2 modes that hold up quite well. Not alot of stickers either. The Dra C comes with a choice of the cannon arm, or it can have 2 regular arms and hold a gatling gun.

Not everyone participating in the build is here on this refuge page, my vote is wait until the forums come back up. Otherwise many may be excluded, and it would give the rest of us time to get the kit. I won’t order the kit from overseas so I’m waiting for hobbywave or GSaM to get it in.

oh yeah and the stupid jokes about the “itchiness”… come on.

  • JMuss posted a new activity comment 9 years, 2 months ago

That episode was… horrendous. It seems to be going downhill if this is what we can expect, can’t believe I waited nearly two weeks for that episode. I know this series is meant to be taken entirely serious, but somethings don’t belong in gundam (won’t say it to avoid spoilers).

Where is everyone ordering the Kampfer Amazing from?

Well Tamiya is a close second to most used paint behind Vallejo. My local hobby store has decided to stop selling Tamiya paint (no idea why)… so they don’t get much of my business anymore. Besides Vallejo paint thinner, what else works well with thinning Vallejo paint, like household items?

    • I’ve only heard of two other household items other than water and Windex. Some people had good luck thinning it with Future, but I never tried it myself. Water with a small amount of 90% or 99% alcohol might work too, judging by how well it can work when using it to thin for handpainting.

Non-household items you can also try are the airbrush…[Read more]

I’m using model color, and I’ve been around a 1:1 ratio give or take. Some people online have said that water works just fine with vallejo, but since I use those paints for the most part I’ll probably try to find a bottle of the thinner to give it a try. Was gonna go to my local hobby shop tomorrow but all they have is the tamiya stuff. Do you…[Read more]

    • Tamiya acrylic? Yeah, that does need to be thinned down, at least at 1:1 ratio. It’s more flexible in terms of thinning materials, though. You can use their brand thinner (acrylic and lacquer) or just 90% and above alcohol. Even normal lacquer thinner works, but I haven’t tried it myself.

Personally, Tamiya is leagues better to airbrush than…[Read more]

Airbrush question. So I got a new airbrush for xmas and this is my first time giving one a try, I’m having issues with the needle and surrounding area constantly getting clogged by dry paint. It will work for a few really good sprays then just stops. I’ve been using Vallejo paints and windex as a thinner (which I’ve searched around on the internet…[Read more]

    • Windex works great to clean my airbrush, but I’d not use it to thin. Get a bottle of Tamiya thinner – that works great – the larger bottles are not that expensive.

    • Nope, that’s kinda common when thinning Vallejo with Windex. I have the same exact issue whenever I use it and so far, the only time I don’t get a bad case of tip-dry is if I’m using a bigger needle or I’m doing large-area base coats where I tend to have the trigger pulled back more than usual.

      What’s the ratio you’re using? I’ve found a…[Read more]

    • I agree with Dlinker. Tamiya is some really great stuff. I have some great results with it in my airbrush ventures. I have officially been turned into a Tamiya person. I can say that the Tamiya Gloss paints thinned at a 1:1 ratio with their own Lacquer thinner yields some amazing and durable results.

      • Just get a bottle of Tamiya thinner. It’ll last for a long time just thinning paints and they do have a retarding agent to prevent the paint from drying too fast. You should not be getting a tip dry situation unless you are spraying very fine lines or you did not thin your paint enough.
