Final Submission done.
I wanted to make a comment on the color bits around my kit. I painted the kit fuel drums on bright colors to represent those were civilian drums they…
Thanks! Really happy with the way it turned out.
Being a 1/72 kit it is rather small (hull is about 95mm long) and I wouldn’t be able to put the level of detail on it for me to be confident for the advanced category. I would definitely consider trying doing diorama, or maybe a 1/35 kit next time, although I have never done one.
Weathering done. I applied a dark wash, followed by some chipping and painted some remaining details. Then I sealed everything with a matte varnish and finished it with some metallic dry-brushing.
Details painted and everything coated with and acrylic gloss varnish.
After it had dried I carried on by placing a healthy amount of decals, next step is weathering!
Base color applied. Sadly I forgot to take photos of the pre-shading which was done after the primer, you can see its effect on the subtle differences on the tone of the color. Looking good!
Done with the assembly of the kit. I want it to tell a story, I am going with the setup of “A T-90A on Syria”. As you know on the ongoing (and awful) conflict on Syria, alm…
I have attached an extra machinegun on a welded support, made a big spaced armor plate covering the side armor not protected by ERA, placed some slat armor protecting the back of the turret and got a few track links and logs to work as extra armor. I was extra careful that none of the this modifications hindered any of the huge amount of sensors…[Read more]
Here is my entry, Revell’s 1/72 T-90A.
The latest development of the T-72 family, incorporating some nice active protection systems and following the Russian trend, a h…
I was really happy when I found a rare TO-55 ACE kit at my local hobby store. I heard those are limited runs and I even got a discount on it.
Oh god the flash, it’s…
The Jesta HG Cannon looks pretty sick. I would recommend an RG Kit but most of them are 2000 yen with of them being 2400. What kind of design are you looking for? Military look, more swords, more guns etc.?
Yes, exactly what I was looking for, and high grade kits are supposed to be really good! Thanks!
I prefer a more military look, after all, why would you bring a knife to a gunfight?
The RX-78-2 does look great, but sadly it goes out of my budget- I got exactly ¥1,696 remaining from the PWP prize (thank you HLJ overlords), but yeah the RX does have it’s swag-
I took a look at it. It is indeed a flying ball with a gun on it.
I read a review and it does seems to be a great kit, and even though I’m sure in the future we will be quite happy flying around in our giant balls shooting stuff around, I would go with a more “mechy” thing this time. Joke aside it does seems to be a great kit.
This is the current state of my Shiratsuyu.
Being this my first Tamiya kit I’m actually impressed, it was $5 and it even came with a highly detailed extra sprue with tine planes (Seiran, A6M2, etc) and accessories like turrets to add extra detail to the model/diorama, and even a metal weight to place inside!
I do have some problems with the rigging, it has a lot of it and I’m not sure how to do it, I read to use stretched sprue so I’ll probably give it a try.
I love the ship, just wonderful!
For rigging, I tried using stretched sprue, but not like the guide in the link, as I couldn’t manage it.
I cut them to shape and glued.
Currently I used very thin fishing wire which works perfectly.
I recommend UNI-caenis fishing wire, 20 denier and 30 denier.
I learned about them from David Griffith’s superb ship…[Read more]
Thanks! I ended up using stretched sprue since it was quite hard to get caenis wire over here, but I glued it as posted in there. Been quite busy but I hope I can finish it and post pics soon, thanks for the help!
