I thought I was gonna take a well deserved break after the MG S-Gundam but all I feel like doing is building more gunpla! So I’m going to continue to post with the MG Exia I’ve had for a while. I’m probably not going to enter this into the contest but I’d like to share my adventure with all of you. For this kit, my goal is to do everything I’ve le…[Read more]
I used Tamiya Acrylic gloss gunmetal on the inner frame. Some parts i used enamel to do a reverse wash (see last WIP) This is my 2nd painted kit and I’m very happy with the results 😀 but I think I used too much gunmetal, It would be nice to have some color separation even on the frame. But that would have taken a lot of masking…
I put it straight from the bottle to the airbrush, no thinning or anything. It is a 3 or so yr old bottle though. It says ‘Pledge with Future Shine’ and the Future Logo is pretty good sized. I hear rumors the newer stuff with the mostly white label is thinner. I bought a bottle of that and am going to give it a try.
For a cleaner circle you can put some rubbing alcohol (I use 70% alcohol) on that q tip and run it over the raised edge! Carefully mind you 😛 you don’t want to take off the pint on the inside!
Some good advice, although I ended up just doing some manual touch ups with a toothpick. The paint was still wet, so it was easy to manipulate it and get an effect that I wanted. I’ll upload some pictures of the finished product later.
Thanks! Many many hours went into this 😀 the lack of nub marks is mostly because of the paint but there are some little holes from bad nub mark removal around the kit, you just need to know where to find them 😛

I would think so too 🙁 But the people in intermediate are modding and scratch building parts! Well If they move me up it it just means I’m better than I thought I was!
Ah, in that case I highly recommend the Zaku. You’re going to work your butt off to get it looking good but when you move on to newer and better kits you’ll have less of a problem at sealing seam lines and stuff. I did the same with my MG GP01 FB (my profile picture) and it certainly helped in my MG S-gundam build.
Welp! Last WIP! My MG S-Gundam is all complete. Overall it took me about a month of a lot of hours but it was certainly worth it! I had to steal the Display stand from the MG Ex-S I haven’t built yet. It looks like I’ll have to order another stand for the Ex-S later…. BUT Its definitely worth getting this guy off the ground (as if he could stand…[Read more]

That’s awesome. I used the reverse wash for the first time as well, on the insides of the RF’s shoulders. I honestly love the abundance of gunmetal you put on the kit.
