Awesome.
NEVER EVER USE “SCHMINCKE CLEAR FINISH” ….this sh!t ruined my inner frame.
It got very foggy…worst clear coat ever.
I am “lucky” that its only the inner Frame….
I now ordered some Gunze H-30 …hope this stuff works.
What clear coats do you guys use? I really need some help here 🙁
Thx in advance View
Was Klarlacke angeht kann ich nur die H20 und H30 von Mr. Hobby empfehlen. Ist auf wasserbasis, kostet nicht viel und kann mit Tamiya X20A (acrylic thinner) 1:1 verdünnt werden.
I am pretty sure nothin funny got into the can with the tamiya paint. I had sed it before and it worked fine. I even did test the paint on a plastic spoon today jsut to make sure. It dried nicely and did not crack.
As I reported before, I had to scrap my model-kit shortly before it was done because some colors reacted in a bad way. I now what to know what cuased this …I just started with GunPla so I really can only take a guess what caused this.
What happend is that a acrylic color got cracks when it dried. I attached some pictures…[Read more]
I have only had paint go crackie like that once. It was Tamiya acrylic over a clear coat. For me I think it was that something else was in the mix too. Be it soap from cleaning the bottle that I later mixed in. maybe another type of thinner. I had also tried thinning with isopropyl alcohol just to see how it worked. I ended up dumping the…[Read more]

I’ve heard the mr Color paints (even the lacquer ones) are susceptible to alcohol. Maybe the tamiya started to lift the layers underneath.
If so all I could think oh of is misting coats until you build up enough paint.
I have no answers but I do have some thoughts on the matter. first off the Pink paint you have isn’t normal Mr. color paint. It’s Mr Hobby Aqueous. It’s not a lacquer like Mr. Color paints. It’s an acrylic which I’ve heard is pretty comparable to Tamiya paints. That being said, I have used Mr. Color Lacquer thinner with Tamiya paints without…[Read more]
Get your parts and strip them with isopropyl.it gets paint off if you use a tootbrush even more so.use right primer, I use alclad grey primer a lot and use acrylic paints, tamiya and citadel are the 2 I use.i do not use enamel out of pots.i use alclad spray from bottles also.and I use alclad gloss klear and theres matt also.
I did not know that Tamiya Acrylics on Mr Hobby Color doesnt work. The Paint is breaking up…its a pain to watch.
Today I spend 5 (!!!) hours with masking…and now its literaly crumbling….I am done for… this hobby of mine will take a break…good luck everybody with the Competition!
Ouch, that sucks buddy. I know how you feel and taking a step bad isn’t a bad choice. Let it sit and simmer and when you feel up to it, work on it again.
Paint layers can be a pain. It might be the tamiya paint mix not just what is under it. Did the Tamiya paint go cracky like a dried up mud puddle? I had that happen and with some testing think it was that something got into the tam paint. Maybe another type of thinner I was using, dish soap from washing and reuseing…[Read more]
Take the parts and soak them in suitable stripping solution, I use isopropyl and clean all the paint off.redo them again.once their redone you will feel better and relieved.
That really sucks dude. You must have put in a lot of effort and time into your entry. I had to strip down my entry as it did not come out that way that I wanted. Put me back at least a month behind in the build. Now I’m running into other problems. but I will get there. Hope you decide to keep going and have one final shot at the comp.
here we go again with more masking-madness and gun-painting.
It turned out “okay”….even though I kinda regret coloring the “unimportant” parts with the gun-metal…. meh
