It’s been a while, while my foray into warhammer and miniature painting has been satisfying, I find big stompin’ robots draw me back.
But why does HLJ not have anything in stock? All good kits are back ordered! View
Do you find the alclad chrome is very weak (can’t be masked, rubs of real easy) and the dry time on the gloss black base takes forever?
I like the results alclad produce but they do my head in sometimes
You do have to topcoat the chrome before you can mask or rub it, but that’s the same for all alclad high shine finishes. My black is dry and ready to add next coat within a few hours, but I always leave it to cure overnight 🙂 great finishes take time. That candy has taken 4 days so far…
Same one I got. I’m not expecting more than 2 years out of it. But the tank evens out the air pressure so you don’t get pressure spikes from the motor when it turns off and on. It’s an oiless motor so you don’t get oil mixing with your paint, this will shorten the motor life as well. And it has a regulator, which is a must for airbrushing. But $90…[Read more]
Funnily enough it will do. The needle, and seals in the airbrush probably won’t survive very long, especially if you use solvent based paints. But it’s going to cost you $80 for the compressor anyway and the airbrush would be a good set to start on because you won’t care if you wreck it. Get it than start saving for a decent entry level airbrush…[Read more]

Not sure yet. Any kit smaller then the Sazabi is probably going to have weight issues with such heavy equipment.
Have you received yours yet? They look to be pretty decent moldings. And all the extra finish parts and metal details are good too.
Yay! They arrived! I’ll wait to finish the sazabi ver ka before I start on one of the sets. I’m thinking the sazabi is going to be packin some extra fire power 😀

Ahh. Yeah dude. You need ventilation and a respirator for lacquer paints. That towel is really not going to do anything. I’ve been using them for a while now and can’t fathom how you managed to use them without a proper respirator.
Mirror selfie! Seriously dude, protect your health. I use a 3M respirator with a pair of chemical cartridges. That little doctors mask won’t do anything. You probably never considered using a respirator until now, since you only hand painted water based paints, but lacquers combined with the propellants in the can are nasty. Fumes can do a lot of…[Read more]
Thanks on compliment! As far as a respirator I’m definitely getting one come check time wendsday before I spray any more of that mr. Hobby, I’ve dealt with all sorts of paints in my life and never dealt with that bad a fumes, that includes when I worked with my dad spraying fed-ex equipment.
And that’s the only mirror selfie I think I’ve ever…[Read more]
He’s back! Man I tried the gunpla marker thing. There must be a trick to it, because I suck HaHa!
Always good to see you churn out some great Gunpla! 😀
2 weeks and I have the upper body complete. That’s. It. 🙁
I have no idea how fast you got to be going to get your results in such a short time. I’m practically standing still in comparison
Yay!! They took my money straight away, so I hope they ship soon.
I do like HLJs way of doing business by not taking your money until they’ve got the physical product squirreled away for you. Looks as though Hobbymate have no qualms taking your money straight up haha!

So far alclad gloss black base > alclad chrome > tamiya clear red

It does look awesome, can’t argue with that 😉
