depends on the paint. you kind of have to play around with it to get a ratio you like. for instance tamiya paint, some say a 1:1 ratio, i find that for 20 drops (pipette) of thinner i use 16-17 drops of paint. BUT i have been watching “Andy’s Hobby Headquarters” on youtube and he takes a fresh bottle of tamiya paint, opens it up and fills it the…[Read more]
these bandai star wars kits are amazing. i loved building the snow speeder so i picked up the t-65 x-wing that i started today, vader’s tie adv. x-1. i have a regular tie, and a t-70 x-wing on the way. i am going to do custome paint jobs and decals on them as well. they are so much fun!
hello, i just finished the Bandai Snowspeeder a few days ago. great simple kit. i did a custom paint job and decals. any feed back is welcome. also, this was my first time doing a sludge wash an i am not too sure how i feel about how it came out.
hi, i am working on a M4 Sherman diorama and i am at the weathering stage on the tank. this is the first time i am weathering a model and i want to use some black oil paint to do the wash. i have seen it thinned with mineral spirits. can i use lacquer thinner instead (i have clean strip)? and how will this affect the paint job? i have a coat of…[Read more]
Whatever you do, don’t use a lacquer thinner for the job! It will eat trough the future clear and effect your paint job. You could also use a turpentine to thin the oil paint.
You could also thin down an enamel paint with lighter fluid, enamel thinner, white spirit or benzine and clean up with the same agents. I find enamels best for doing a wash.…[Read more]
hello all. quick question. i bought some plastic angle necked squeeze bottles to keep some airbrush cleaners in and i was wondering if it was safe to store clean strip green lacquer thinner in it, or will it eat through the plastic? i know tamiya’s lacquer thinner comes in a plastic bottle, but didnt want to take a chance with a different…[Read more]
It all depends on the type of plastic used for your bottles. Most plastics can’t hold solvent based thinners. If it is PTFE plastic, it’s not a problem at all, other plastics may melt.
I guess you have to test it. I used the bottles from Vallejo and they withstand cleaning using lacquer thinners so my bet is they can be used to store the lacquer…[Read more]
he may be the old man’s grandson , who created team nemesis from season one. watch episode 20. he has the same hair and eyes and his name is Lucas soooo maybe
I wondered that too. It’s probably a translation error, or a lie. The Meijin was saying that he knows Yuu’s sister. This was probably in order for Yuu to trust him, to show they’re not total strangers.
OR MAYBE SHES A TWO TIMING WENCH!
Couldn’t stop myself from it
How do we know its his only sister?
Either way cant wait till next ep.
I want more sd action (he sayd reluctantly) and if the modelkit preorders are any spoilers i see three ways everything could go, and i like em all :3
It is a Japanese manner to thanks your relative’s peer to “taking care of” the person as looking after. (Usually use when meeting a classmate or co-worker of that person)
As they are from same school and know each other, it is pretty normal.
In Yuuma’s case, since Meijin and China are friends, Yuuma would thanks Meijin for looking after her sis (Assumption on everyone looking after each others when they are acquaintances)
you know i am building the same kit and one of the hands had a whole lot of extra plastic all over the fingers and the part that you use to help hold the weapons. i was able to clean up most of the extra plastic around the fingers and they work fine if a little tighter than normal, but the attachment piece was a loss. it wouldn’t rotate no matter…[Read more]
Thanks heaps for the suggestion and reply. Yeah that would be pretty annoying. I was actually thinking of going to gentaikits for replacement parts but it could get pretty pricey or try and reshape them myself even though it’s a little risky. But yeah Vegeta does really great work.
Luckily I contacted the HLJ Parts department and they said that…[Read more]
try a high gloss black enamel as the primer. then a high gloss silver laquer like tamiya silver leaf (what i use) or i hear really good things about alclad silvers. then do multiple coats of clear red al la tamiya clear red, or whatever color you are wanting. i finished off with peal clear coat. it gave my custom marasai a super shine.
Two of my favorite kits are the MG Marasai, i built two (regular colors and a custom paint job) and the mg Geara Doga. both are pretty decent sized kits that kinda dwarf the EW kits i have built. if you want another EW kit you cant go wrong with the Tallgeise. I have it fighting the Heavyarms al la when Heero borrowed Heavyarms to fight…[Read more]
much as i expected i paled in comparison to the winners who had AMAZING entries. Congratulations!!! i had so much fun seeing everyone’s work, and i am so happy with how my build turned out. i think it is one of the best paint jobs i have ever done. cant wait until next year!!
they have to be hands down the greatest star wars kits ever made. i have them all so far. enjoy 🙂
