To the guy asking about filling in hollow parts!!! I hope you read this. Use Epoxy putty! Tamiya Basic Grey uses some of the same chemicals as modeling cement, so if you fill a part with it, the plastic WILL melt and warp. Learned this the hard way, hope you don’t have to.
Syd
Good point, Joe. I use Tamiya’s white putty, mostly.

Hey Syd and Ryan,
Just found out about the show 2 weeks ago and burned though all of gunpla tv during my spring break. 🙂 I would like to thank you guys for getting me interested in plamo once again.
I wanted to ask you guys who is your favorite modeler from hobby magazines or online? My personal favorite is Seira Masuo from Hobby Japan for his amazing work with 1/144 scale kits.
Love the show! Keep up the good work. 🙂
Syd
My favorite modeler is Naoki Kimura. His stuff is regularly in Hobby Japan magazine. In Japan, as you can imagine, there are hundreds of blogs dedicated to Gunpla but perhaps my favorite modeler is a guy who goes by the name Shimakou. Check out his stuff!

Hey guys,
Be safe Ryan on your holiday. Also nice camera work to the new guy. Now to answer the Sharpie question. It gives off a yellowish glare which in my opinion looks hideous, however if you don’t mind that go for it.
Troy
Damn Ryan !! You almost gave me a heart attack when I saw you spraying the Falcon !! Short Strokes Son, left to right or right to left. Be careful spraying the way you are because you will get heavy spots of paint and an inconsistancy of coverage . Patients you will need ” Yoda ” .
Love the Show !!

@Syd: if possible, maybe you can bring some parts/gundams for comparisons, rather than just showing Banshee or Unicorn by themself.
@Ryan: Good job with the Falcon! I do suggest you to try doing a Master Grade gundam (by yourself) though!
Question: How do I remove masking tapes without having the paint masked below come off? Am I not waiting long enough for the paint to dry (24hours)? Or is the tape too sticky?
Syd
Regarding the masking tape issue, it’s quite possible that your paint is not adhering well to the plastic. This is why people advise you wash the runners and/or use primer. This helps the paint stay on the piece when you start masking or doing panel washes, etc.

Dear Ryan!
Have you ever use a Rattlecan before?
Looks like its your first time you ever use one!
Rattle the Can for..lets say 1-2 minutes and then hold it about 30 cm
away from the Model and press the Button. Left, right, left right. While you do
this move slowly forward.
So long till the Surface looks good.

Man I’m going through gunplaTV withdrawal, Ryan needs to get back from vacation. Jk enjoy yourself Ryan, but seriously, can Syd possibly do a refresher tutorial to pass the time lol?
Syd
Don’t worry. We made some contingency plans for while Ryan’s away. You’ll find out soon what they are.
ClayCannonII
So now I have to deal with suspense AND withdrawal? Great. Lol
ClayCannonII
Hey Syd,
Could you do a tutorial on applying the clear stickers you get in kits? How do you get rid of that tape look even after you cut around the print?
