Masahiro Doi’s Profile:
– Born in 1961
– 1972: Fell in love with armor modeling at the age of 11 after building Tamiya’s Military Miniatures Series Panzer II kit.
– 1986: Debuted as a modeler/writer for a Model Graphix magazine with an article about converting Italeri’s 1/35 Panzer IÂ Ausf. B tank kit to the Ausf. A version.
– 1997: Established Japan’s first all-military and tank modeling magazine, “Armour Modelling.” Working as the first chief editor, I also contributed many model and diorama articles to the magazine.
Although my job is tank modeling, it’s also my hobby. I really enjoy building vignettes on small bases that tell a story.
During my time working as the chief editor and supervisor for Armour Modelling magazine, the hectic publishing schedule never allowed time for work on my own projects, as I was always busy building models specifically for the magazine. Now that I’m on my own, I can take my time and build exactly the models I want to build, exactly the way I want to build them. That’s one reason I’ve started this blog…to share with readers the fun of model building!
