This is my first “custom” gunpla as well as my first HG (I just started gunpla). It’s a battle damaged/scarred RX 78-2. This is the RX 78-2 from the Gunpla starter set vol. 2. It’s is more of a custom paint job than a kit bash. I used acrylics to paint this (Are acrylics a good idea for gunpla or should I use some other type of paint?), a heated paper clip for the bullet holes and gashes, and a concoction of graphite powder, chalk powder, and brown paint for the smudge marks. Since the starter kit only comes with a derpy white beam saber (I don’t have pink paints) I stole my RG Exia’s beam and glued it to the beam saber handle of the RX 78-2.Does anyone have anymore advice on making a gunpla look battle scarred?
Also, any suggestions on making this build better??
yes arylics are good paints my recommendation is stay away from the enamel paints they take too long to dry sometimes even a couple days i would say use enamels for small details since theyre very shiney
well enamels are best for paneling if you are using acrylic paints.
and yeah gloss enamels are the paints that take a long time to fully cure (my record was over 3 weeks, but i think the paint just went bad due to the age)
