    • What metal are you using? How are you cutting it?

    • The technical stuff.. The metal I am using is an alloy called Gilding Metal, which is a high copper content brass. It has far greater plastic qualities to that of ordinary brass, which tends to be quite brittle, with similar properties to that of silver and gold, for which it is used as a much cheaper alternate.
I am cutting it using a piercing saw, commonly know as a jeweller’s saw. (it looks a bit like a coping saw) Not actually sure what size blade I am using, though I think it’s a size 0. I could have done with a size 1 though, due to the thickness of the sheet (1.25mm), and the fact it was scrap that had been significantly work hardened previously.
I also have a different sort of workbench set up, due to my general use of this saw. I can post more pics if there is interest.

Right health & safety notice, due to the extreme closework nature when using this saw (you use the saw by cutting between spread fingers which hold the metal down), you are pretty much 100% guaranteed going to cut, stab, bash yourself A LOT so bare this in mind if you’re interested.
I also know somebody who broke their sternum when securing the blade!!! Be warned.
