Hey guys. I’m new here. Just wanna ask a question. I’m planning to get Valvrave kits and I don’t know how to mix clear pink for the effects parts and how to paint clear parts with normal paints. I’m kinda new in hand painting and have use gundam markers quite a lot. So, any tips?
Welcome bro!
Any clear colour can be made by tinting a clear base (literally a paint without any pigment) with a colour of your choosing. Or you can be lazy like be and just buy the clear colour.
I haven’t done very much hand painting but from what I understand you will need a retarding agent to slow the drying process if you use fast drying paint like acrylics or lacquers. Enamels tend to be the hand painting choice as they dry the slowest, hence giving you the time to work them with the brush, also gives the paint time to level a little. Also don’t forget to thin the paint. Several thin coats of paint are always better than one thick coat that fills in all the fine details.
About thinner, I normally use water for Tamiya acrylics. Is it ok or I have to buy the real thinner?
http://www.graemenattress.com/wp/valvrave-i/ – I used the Tamiya clear colours through my airbrush to paint the effect parts. I thought the clear red worked very good.
Airbrush is too expensive and have to get a painting booth with it. My mom wouldn’t let me do a huge mess in my room. Maybe when I get older and have that kind of budget, I can afford one. Airbrush seems to be very practical.
They work well hand painted too. I’d use the Tamiya thinner on them too.
will water work well for thinner?
Never tried water. I always use the Tamiya thinner which works very well.
