Now that my Tallgeese is done, I’ve turned my attention back to something I started about a year ago: The Buck Rodgers Starfighter that Brian (yes, that Brian) gave me for my birthday a while back. I’m sure many of you may note even know what this thing is. No worries, there’s always YouTube: http://youtu.be/yoF0a32DhLw?t=1m

It’s a dated, primitive kit from 1979 and after doing several state-of-the-art kits from Tamiya, Wingnut Wings and Bandai lately, this requires a whole new outlook on modeling. Just look at the fit of the two body halves! Those wing fins are supposed to come together and the gaps around the tail part are cavernous. It’ll be fun to see how well I can clean it up without too many hours of effort.

    • wow nostalgia … do they still make these !!!

    • couldn’t get enough of this show when i was a kid (am i that old?) lol
its still a great design tho, even after all these years. looking forward to seeing the progress and end result. by the way, thanks HLJ 🙂

    • You go, man! Glad to see you finally getting around to that one. It’s sure to be a challenge in that “1979 tooling” kind of way. Perhaps I should take this as a gauntlet being thrown down and jump on my Starfighter…I had two of those suckers, you know! Man, I lover that show as a lad…and still dig the Starfighter design. A timeless classic!

Sorry Abdul, these haven’t been released since they were…released. The first time. I believe the imported Tsukuda version was a year or two after the original Monogram version (same kit, just in a “S. F. Hobby Old Time” Tsukuda-labeled Monogram box). Both versions go for pretty pennies and yen these days.

    • Oh wow! I can’t wait to see you complete this one! I had one as a kid, but it has since been “retired” (I think my friend and I shot BBs at it. What can I say, we were young back then and kits were plentiful and dirt cheap).

    • Wow, I’d love to see the packaging on that, if nothing else. Do share!

    • Oh wow, that looks disastrous! But I’m sure you’ll do a good job and I’d love to see a video of the build on Gunpla TV, sir! Just like the very informative one you did for the Tallgeese…
