I wish, I wish, I wish, bandai will release the 2.0 or the ver ka of GP01/GP02/GP03..

    I wish… T_T

    • MG GP01 v1.0 is already pretty much a ver,. Katoki. I’d like them to release a version Kawamori. 🙂

      • erkk, ahaa,, i forgot bout that.. most of the 0083’s designs are from katoki.. btw, kawamori? forgive my lack of knowledge.. but who is he?

        • Kawamori designed the GP01 and GP02 originally. The original GP01 design was curvy, a bit squat in the chest and with some wildly exaggerated proportions… It’s a bit crazy-looking in some ways but there’s something I love about Kawamori’s designs that unfortunately rarely makes it to the model kit versions.
The MG GP01 and GP02 were redesigns by Katoki. The “flare” was toned down, the proportions normalized, etc. The end result was a very different design, very rigid and technical as opposed to the outlandish curves of the Kawamori design. The precision and detail of Katoki’s GP01 makes it stand out as a high point in the early history of the MG and HGUC lines – but to me it’s not the GP01, not really. The PG and RG GP01 kits are a bit of a middle-ground – rooted in Katoki’s design, I’d say, but incorporating a bit more of the flare of Kawamori’s design.
Shoji Kawamori is probably best known as one of the main designers and creators behind Macross – he designed almost all of the Variable Fighters, from the original Valkyrie to the Messiah from Macross Frontier. He also designed many of the machines in Armored Core. His contributions to Gundam were (IIRC) limited to 0083: Specifically, the GP01, GP02, and some of the ships (The Albion, Peer Gynt/”Late Production” Musai, maybe a few others)
