Intermediate Modeler – Modeling Competition 2013 9 years, 6 months ago Here is another WIP from me. Looking at all of the awesome work everyone is doing, I can’t help but think I have to try something new that I have not done before. So I’ve tried this out for the first time….
Its basically a simple head mod that most Gunpla’s modellers use to allow for the face to be detached from the head. I learned this technique from “The Ghost of Zeon’s” online tutorials on YouTube and his gunpla site. The mod also allows for a blue LED light to shine through the Hi Nu’s Eyes.
I had to carve out the inner chest parts to make room for the battery and wiring using only my number 11 blade to do so. Took ages but I got there, especially when I had to create a space for the LED’s on/off switch.
I think it looks pretty cool, but is nothing compared to what others are producing for this competition. Well you live and learn.

The trick with led lighting is to cut out light leakage, will be interesting to see what it looks like finished.

Maybe you would like to try cover the surrounding of LED with some aluminium foil, so the light will not light up every where. Paint black interior will be another choice avoid it.

Cheers for the feedback guys. This was my first LED so I will take into account the excess light by using some of your suggestions. Hopefully it will look good when its all finished.
