Anyone else feeling like a pirate today?

Introducing my [most probable] entry in this year’s Intermediate Modeler competition: MG Cross Bone Gundam X2 Ver. Ka. This is going to be the base kit, with some modifications that will be added along the way. I’m waiting on some extra parts from other MGs (ordered through Bandai’s replacement parts service). I may decide to build other kits during this competition, but this seems to be my current top choice for an entry.

This is going to be a fun build! Just look at those waterslides! I still need to get more paint and mark softer, though… Anyway, work in progress pictures will be up once I start it, but that may be delayed since I just had my wisdom teeth pulled out.

    • Good choice, I have built the X-1 and the full cloth, but not the X-2. He is very small when built. About the size of the F91. Good kit though 🙂

      • It should definitely be a fun build. Bigger isn’t necessarily better for a model kit, so I’m going with the late UC era. 🙂

I actually postponed the process of getting around to buying this kit, because it was a toss-up between this and Tallgeese II. I’m a fan of either darker suits or having more blue coloration in general.

Once the wisdom teeth-pulling pain has subsided, I’ll probably get around to assembling and painting this kit. Any thoughts on whether I should spray the frames first or spray each part individually? Either way, there’s a lot of hand-painting that needs to be done.

        • And I was just thinking on buying this guy the other day. While I was thinking it got sold… Good thing they offered 25% discount. You did get it from genteikits, right?

          • Nah, I only use Genteikits for ordering parts. :/

While their prices are good, they still mark-up the MSRP a little more than I’d like. It’s funny though, the 25% discount makes their in-stock kits the MSRP prices.

            • Yup, yup. I was tempted to get it but I’m not sure a differwnt weapon and V fin are worth the trouble. The white one looks damn good too and changing it’s paint theme isn’t that big of a problem. I’d still be missing that lance weapon this guy has.

              • They added an entirely new runner for the lance and V-fin. What really got my interest aside from those two were the waterslides and the fact that almost all the frames are made of polystyrene. Chemically stable and durable, it’ll be perfect for painting.

My younger brother is actually considering getting an X-1 now, because of this purchase. 😀

        • I would spray the frame in one piece then hand paint highlighted parts. I am having three wisdom teeth and a titanium plate removed from my jaw this coming Friday, so NOT looking forward to it!

          • Sweet, thanks for the advice, man! Any suggestions for the hue of grey? I’m thinking a lighter grey than the one in the manual.

Oh man. I had four removed this last Thursday. Luckily, the pain medication didn’t knock me out, and I didn’t get swollen cheeks. Hope yours goes as smoothly!
