*shrug* it was not without its problems, and it had more than its share of unintentionally hilarious moments (esp. Captain Anus, and Flit’s dead girlfriend Urine) – but I thought it was an enjoyable show overall.
@tetsujin Attention! Captain Anus on deck!! Yeah the whole reason for the conflict was total Bulls***, the overall design/art of the charcters is childish and the pilots too young to have hairs down there but still can fight with MS…. The father of the last guy just made a like 13 year vacation without reason and then reappears to be the good dad… cough, cough… But the general idea of ore then one generation and the inheritance og the gundam MS is cool. Moreover the story lacks in a lot og Gundam animes, I mean Gundam Wing was just stupid, the whole thing didn’t make sense…
Yeah, Asemu’s 13 year departure… That is ridiculous if you look at it seriously at all. And then when he sees his wife again, she’s pretty much just cool with it. She hasn’t “moved on”, and she’s totally ready to welcome him back after thinking he was dead for 13 years… That bit always made me think that Asemu must have seriously messed with her head while they were together, terribly damaged her self-esteem for her to be so desperate, even after all that time. (And why did he have to pretend to be dead again?)
I always felt worst for Emily, though. Like Flit NEVER showed any interest in her… Then Urine died and generation 1 ended, and then in generation 2 Flit and Emily are married… But he still pines for Urine… pretty much forever.
Lots of things wrong with the show but still good times.
@tetsujin Asemu was a cool character out of the three. Without special abilities but still one of the best pilots. They killed the best char because of him (Wolfy guy) The reason is explained in a manga or something (memories of sid; lol). But for Kio who never knew his father and then he meets him: instead of WTF Dude? Who are you?? He: You alive? Good lets fight together…. And Flit that he still remember Urine after 60 years,… poor Emily. One thing: the end went by too quickly (like in a lot of MSG series). 5 episodes about a woman who’s unimportant and crazy and gets killed but only one episode for the conclusion.
I am going to say Gundam Age was good. Sure there were kinks. I never heard of captain anus jokes. I tend to avoid bum joke sin general so that might be why I never saw it. The show started pretty badly and sucked to the levels of G gundam. But Age’s season 2 Really picked things up and gave the show much needed life Flit became a completely new and really interesting character and the Asem, Zehart arc was good too. And then Kio was pretty bad and held on and saved by grandpa and the Vegan (see what I did there? hue hue?) invaders. Sadly everything builds up well to the end and then a few mistakes happen again and Kio has his way to make a ending that is predictable. which is sad because Gundam Age had decent protagonists who did interesting and unique things. And after all protagonists are usually very boring and predictable for me so that’s a thumbs up.
Gundam Age also had some awesome mobile suits as well some really cool looking mobile suits (especially with the third generation) suits like the G-Bouncer, Clanche, Clanche Custom (they are up there with Jegans!!! love them), Genoace O Custom and The Wrozzo. Sadly the last two didn’t get HG releases which is a shame. The HG line was Brilliant With little use of stickers and more plastic with lots of color provided by plastic, can’t speak enough about the quality of them. and the MG Age-1 Normal is stunning, a masterpeice.

There is no “Captain Anus joke” – that literally is her name. It’s spelled “Einus”, but it’s pronounced “Anus”. Same thing with Flit’s dead girlfriend – spelled “Yurin”, pronounced “Urine”.
Admittedly it’s kind of juvenile to obsess over that… but they really walked right into that one.
But yeah, I enjoyed the show, too. It had its shortcomings but I thought it was fun.
Ahhh thanks for clearing that up. And yes they really did dig themselves a hole for that one..Oh I will also be intrigued to see what Memory of Eden does as well.
