This is my high grade Sinanju I pretty much completed (I may add a few touches here or there later on) back in May.

Since this is a newer and more detailed kit from the HG line, there wasn’t a lot to do in terms of painting large sections, but I did hand-paint all of the gold trim and Zeon insignia areas (I posted a pic of this a few months back on the HobbyLink.tv Facebook).

I chose to paint this by hand because:

    A: It obviously looks better.

B: While stickers have improved a lot, over time, they tend to peel, etc. (I have a bunch of old Gundam Wing kits that I just threw stickers on as a kid more than a decade ago and those are peeling, so I’m going to “restore” them with my airbrush lol)

    C. I thought it would be a good opportunity to work on steadying my hand.

If you want the 1/144 Sinanju kit to look accurate as far as color goes, you will also need to paint some of the gray-colored areas on the two booster tubes, a few gray spots on the legs and arms, the grey part of the head-mounted machine guns, some white rings on a couple of the back-pack boosters, and the smallest vents on the shoulders will have to be painted yellow. This is all relatively easy compared to the gold trim, if you choose to paint it. I have not painted the red stripes on the booster tubes yet. I left the red plastic shiny because this thing is like the Ferrari of mobile suits and I wanted a little flash to it.

Overall, this was a fun build and I’m happy with my results. Just be prepared to have patience and put some time into it if you are going to hand-paint it.
