The benefits of an SD grade kit is it’s really quick to snap together and see what needs changing, the drawback is that it’s a lot to change. Messed around with the shoulder armour and changed the position from the original, and decided to cut off the fins shortly after taking the picture.
Also scrapped the old pelvis and redressed one from an old hguc RX-78-2 junker I had with the star winning’s skirts. Didn’t like the sides though so I’m using the boosters from the EZ arms set on a sliding post so they can extend and swivel for directional thrusters. Obviously this pelvis doesn’t connect to SD type joints, so I put a length of sprue through it as a bar for some hguc ZZ shoulders (thank you tryon 3 spares), much easier than sitting and sanding the ball joints of this new pelvis down to just a rod of plastic. Plus, I don’t have to deal with joint friction issues since I found a sprue that’s the perfect diameter for the polycap I’m using. The smaller front skirts are jointed, just a sprue rod glued to the back going into a hole, though I need to add a catch so they don’t just fall out. Moving onto the leg work after this is finished up properly ready for paint.
